Board: Gnu Gremlin
Size: 155
Camber Option: C3. Camber 2.0.
Bindings: Rome Black Labels
Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negatie 12 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 200lbs
Resort: Loveland Ski Area
Conditions: 10 plus inches of fresh snow on top of perfect corduroy. Zero wind, cooler temps, and average visibility.
Flex: This board has a every so slightly above middle of the road flex. It’s your standard directional flex with a softer nose, stiffer middle section and tail. There’s a decent amount of torsional flex.
Stability: This board is nice and stable. You can cut through crud and it doesn’t buck you around. At speed there’s a tiny amount of chatter in the nose.
Ollies/Pop: This board has some serious pop. From the camber profile to the flex and the shape of this board it just wants to launch off anything and boost. It’s easy to engage the camber profile and the rebound is exactly what you want in a board like this.
Butterability: The nose is the optimal place to press on. It’s essentially a giant scoop that doesn’t fight you and just holds a butter. The tail is better for doing wheelies at high speed.
Carving: This board is quick and nimble from edge to edge. You can feel it power into a turn and then lock in on edge while snapping out of a carve. Short tight quick carves or long hard drawn out ones this board does it. This thing is meant for ripping turns and how you flex the board in the camber profile makes this board easily maneuverable.
Rider in Mind: Freeride focused resort rider.
Personal Thoughts: Man this board did not let me down. You have power from the mid of the board back to the tail which is great for ripping a carve or doing a power slash in deep snow. The nose is playful which made pow butters an absolute dream.
Comparable Boards: Telos Backslash, Ride Superpig, Rossignol Sashimi

Hi Angry, what’s the biggest difference between the gremlin vs the orca? I’m guessing the gremlin is more playful?
Opposite. Gremlin is more aggressive and has a different camber profile.
hi Angry, i wonder what is the difference between the gremlin and the Korua tranny finder?
I mostly carve on groomer and chase pow, and now can’t decide between the Dancehaul, gremlin, and the tranny finder.
THank you!
Realistically the big things are going to be shape, camber profile/camber amount, and sidecut.
decided to get the gremlin, Rome Vice on this sounds good? Or maybe need sth stiffer??
Thank you!
I’d do it.
The gremlin and orca seem similar with some overlap. What type of rider would the gremlin suit vs the orca?
More power and camber dominance Gremlin.
Just how similar is the Ride Superpig? Everything I’ve read points me towards the Pig, but GNU being Made in USA is a major selling point for me.
It’s similar on edge and purpose but the Gremlin is stiffer, more damp, and has a bit more power out of the camber.
Which one would you choose for cascade concrete?
Gremlin honestly, more damp, and can hold a better edge in that sludge.
Awesome, thanks my doods!
Hi Angry,
Would you say that gremlin is a solid powder board? Or would an gremlin plus a powder board be a solid 2 board quiver?
Hi Angry, I’m curious about the answer to the previous posters question. How competent is the gremlin in powder?
How competent are you in powder with a board that’s camber dominant? Competent? Then you’re fine. Been on rocker your whole life riding pow and don’t have a strong back leg, well you’re probably fucked.
Thanks Angry, much appreciated. I guess I better take a solid look at your top 5 powder rippers. Thanks again!
Hey I’m 6’4 210 pounds size 13
I like taking jumps as well as just sending it
Would a 159W board be fine?
Sure. You could even go smaller.
Angry between the gremlin, stale fish and part wave +, what would be the best for side hits, carving jumps, and some pow, still want something I can Jib a little too?
Stalefish.
What’s the better hard pack carver….Gremlin, Tranny Finder, or Optimistic? Thanks.
They’re all good in their own respective rights.
How would you compare the gremlin to the Burton skeleton key? I ride mostly on the east coast and like to carve, hit the trees, and do pow when I can. Have rode the 153 orca and wanted something more turny/carvey. Is the gremlin significantly better for carving up groomers? And since I’m on the ice coast would you go gremlin over SK? Thx
Overall it’s a stiffer and damper ride. It also grips more aggressively from the front foot back.
First of all you’re awesome for taking the time to get back to everyone on here.
I’m in my mid 30s and am an advanced rider that finds myself chasing pow and euro forcing groomers when not cruising with the father in law on some slopes. Mainly been a Burton whore for most of my life and don’t really have any issues in medium snow to pow- riding a skeleton key 158 and a 150 bottom feeder, but am lacking in hard to ice coverage. After a weekend on the ice coast and not being able to cut into hard pack/ ice was debating picking up a gremlin. Tossed around the orca, but figured there is too much overlap with my quiver.
So go gremlin or any other Recs? I dig shorter boards.
200-210lbs 6’1 size 11 boot
Sorry that should read euro carving, autocorrect strikes again
Gremlin or Libtech Dynamo.
Now that there are other gremlin sizes do you think I could get away with the gremlin 152 or go with the 155?
You’re the man!
I’d put you on the 55.
Ya Avran!
I am 6′ 0 190 lbs. with a size 10 boot. I am an avid rider in all conditions. Looking for an all mountain one board does it all… I am interested in a volume shifted board, and I currently have a Ride Superpig 148. I enjoyed riding the Superpig, but I didn’t love it, looking for an equivalent or better. I also like to ride switch at high speeds. Mostly riding at Snowbird & occasionally JacksonHole. Interested in your feedback… Did you like riding Gremlin vs the Superpig? Or do you recommend a different manufactures volume shifted board? Thank you !
Maybe you need to not go volume shifted…
Yo Angry I’m about 160lbs, 6ft and size 9.5 boot, should I go 152 or 155 Gremlin? thanks.
52 all day.
Hey Angry,
Awesome review. I’m ~165lbs, size 10 boots and 5’8″. Can I get away with 155, or should I be leaning towards 152?
Appreciate it.
55 is going to be noticeably stiffer than the 52 and more assertive. You can ride it, but you’re going to be working for it.
Yooo im eyeing this board right now still cant figure out which size to go with. 152 or 155 for a 5’7 185lbs. I like to charge down, hit all side hits/ramps, go into trees and occasional pow (rare, westcoast BC)
I’d do the 55.
just got this board and rips! Used my old Rome vice for this but just wondering if you got any recommendations? Thanks!
Hey Avran! I’m 5’6”, 150lbs, and mainly do blacks and double blacks with moguls. Would the gremlin 148 be an ideal board for really quick turns between steep moguls? Any other boards you would recommend?
Why the fuck you riding moguls that’s some skier shit right there.
Because I like the challenge. You have any recommendations?
Skis? You don’t want a Gremlin won’t have the torsional flex you’re looking for the Yes The Y would probably be a better fit.
How does this compare to the essential service for a resort ripper? I’ve never ridden a wider volume shifted board. I have a 9.5 boot. Will the gremlin be a lot slower edge to edge for my boot size ?
It’s stiffer and more aggressive.
I’ve watched both of your reviews on the Gnu Gremlin and the Rossignol XV and I’m torn. I’m mostly an East coast rider; groomers, hard pack, icy toward the spring, powder if I can get to VT. I mostly carve and bomb it to the bottom, some trees and jump kickers on the side of the trail. I currently ride an 157.5 Gnu Riders Choice from a while ago. Which one would you buy?
Gremlin will be more versatile for what you want.
Hello. Thank you in advance.
I’ve been riding for 10+ years. I consider myself an intermediate rider; I can hold my own but I don’t go too crazy.
I’m interested in the gremlin but I’ve always ridden rocker. I’m looking for more power and pop for carving hard lines. However I want something i don’t have to fight through the trees.
Is this asking too much and would the Gremlin do the trick?
I’m ~175lbs and currently on a 157 Box Scratcher.
You might have a death wish.
Best reply yet.
Hey Angry,
love your style and thanks for all the input here.
I do mostly piste-groomers carving, chasing pow, hitting small side jumps and non existent in the park. I am 5’6, 175 lbs on a good day with 8,5 feet.
I have a Jones Frontier 159 as an all mountain board. I am looking for a second board with a more pow / freeride focus with still resort carving ability.
Based on your videos, I was thinking Gremlin.
Should I go with a volume shifted, mid wide as my feet are on the smaller side. Would the extra width still help me on carves and let me downsize fow pow? is 152 the right size for me, with good pow-ability? Would 155 be too wide?
How would you consider Nitro slash or Ride Superpig?
OR should I go with a more freeride focused board like Rome Ravine (select), Niche Maelstrom, Nitro Squash, dropout, Jones flagship, Koruas etc.
Thanks.
52 Gremlin should work for you and be fine for what you’re looking for.
Do you know what the width at the inserts are for the 155, 11.5 boot size
Wide enough.
Hey Angry,
I watched all your reviews— awesome and thank you. I grew up in Colorado and Washington State and hit it hard my whole childhood. I’m now old and fat… 6-1, 235… but I know I can still charge. It’s a toss up between the 158 Superpig and the 158 Gremlin. Do you have any suggestions?
If you want to charge more it’s Gremlin all day.
Angry Man, Thanks for the review, I am looking at the 2022 Gremlin. Any changes from the 2021 apart from graphics ? Also I am 220 lbs the 155 or the 158 ?
Nope same ride. 58 if you want to charge harder 55 for more play.
Hey Angry, Love what you do man! I’m 6′ 190lbs size 12. I’ve been on a 158W k2 full camber. I’m nervous about the 155 being too short? and leaning towards 158. I like to charge and carve but I also spend a lot of time in the trees in Vermont. Do you think I’d be fine on the 155?
Yeah I do and if you got the 58 you would hate life.
Thanks my man! I needed a little positive confirmation sizing down (it being a bit of a volume shift board) I’m going to freakin love this board I know it!
I rode big jump in parks a lot in my younger years. I now mainly do natural hits and all mountain/resort stuff. I like a powerful board with a lot of pop
I just broke my 156 Rome National. I’ve been looking for a Capita Mercury but I’ve been offer a great deal on a Gremlin by my local boardshop
Is this similar than the Mercury? I’m 6′ at 170lbs, would a 155 be ok?
No.
Hi Angry,
Unfortunately I can’t find the Gremlin in 148 (short/light dude) in Australia, so I was wondering what else you’d recommend in its place?
Mainly looking for Camber (C3 is nice) and Full Magnetraction (or comparable), Volume Shift is preferable but not a deal breaker.
Cheers!
Give the Ejack Knife a check out.
Will do! I’ve found somewhere I can get a GNU Antigravity 150, what are your thoughts vs the Gremlin and Libtech Ejack? I’m mostly interested in carving ability and at least okay butterability
AG will work.
Would the Libtech Dynamo be a clear winner over the GNU AG?
Thanks for the awesome reviews and input!
Yes.
Thanks for the help! Went with the Dynamo and the AG as I managed to get a very good deal on both. Keener to get on the Dynamo though 😉
Also just wondering which you liked more, the Dynamo or the Gremlin?
They’re both great boards and have their place for two different types of riding/conditions.
Hey Angry, thanks for the review! I’m finding them all very informative. I’m 6’2″, 195lbs, size 13. Have been riding Gnu Carbon Credit (159W) for several years and looking at getting the Gremlin. Would you say I can get away with 155 or should I be going for 158?
You can get away with it easily. Just double check the width for those size 13’s.
Hey Mr Angry,
180lb 5’7 10 us , what size should i get? I am retiring my 155 yes the greats (2018), i do eurocarves, side hits and natural jumps (my other board is a 155 headspace that I just use for park)
52.
Hey Angry,
Looking for binding recommendations for the gremlin. I was leaning towards the Axtion or Cor Pro. Solid choices, or would you recommend something else.?
Cor Pro matches the flex better if you really want to charge. Axtions are great if you want it to be laid back and surfy. In between those two the Transfer is great. Otherwise I think you’re on the right track sir.
Helo Angry! I need some help. I have been riding a Nitro Squash for a couple of season now but broke it. Im looking for a new all mountain/resort ripper. I live in Sogndal Norway, so the riding is mostly offpist powder, drops, some tight woods and natural hits. I like to ride aggressive and throw some freestyle in the mix. For “big” lines I use my splitboard.
Im looking at alot of different boards.. Right now im between the Gremlin, Hyperkyarve and Ejack knife.. Different boards, but I like the sound of all of them. Got any tips? Sorry for the bad english.
Loved the Squash, might want something that can handle switch a bit better.
If you want something that can do it all and handle switch better it’s the Ejack. If you want something softer and more playful for carving around and buttering then it’s the Hyperkyarve. The Gremlin will be close to your Squash but it is stiffer and more damp. It will ride a slightly bit better switch.
Thanks for the reply and all the awsome reviews!
Yo, would you rec the 52 or 55? 5’11 170, 9.5 boots. Rides aggressive.
Previously snapped 2 mullairs 55s and I found that board too short/soft if that means anything w/r/t the decision.
Thanks man
You probably want to go with the 55.
Gremlin or Dance Haul?
Sure.
Hey man,
I’m considering a 148 gremlin as a tree board for the east coast. I’m 5’10 and 165 with a size 8 boot. This would be the shortest board I own. Quiver consists of a 158 og spam, 156 iguchi camber, and 156 korua stealth. I tried a 157 Otto but found it to be way too stiff for me. Should have probably sized down.
I sold my yup earlier this year and I’m looking for something that’s similar ish but a bit suffer and wider. The k2 instrument is on my list to try as well.
Think the gremlin would be fun at that size for resort riding the trees and some groomers?
Thanks and hope you’re well in the new year!
If you found the Otto too stiff you’ll not like the Gremlin, go with the Instrument instead.
Yoo Angry, is the 155 good for me? 165 lbs
Bootsize 43
Seems a bit big.
So 152?
Or even the 148?
???
Sorry for annoying you, but what size should i get? 165lbs, 189cm and bootsize 43!
Any recommendation?
Thank u sir
50 or whatever it is.
Thx Angry. Could a 152 work for me or is a 148 better?
I’d go 48.
6’1″ / 180 / US10 boot – is the 152 too small?
No.
Yo Angry – I’m 5’8”, 165 lbs., size 9 boot. Been riding 30 years typically on a twin shaped 153 – 156 size board but most comfortable on the shorter end of that size range. I’m primarily riding east coast crud with some freshies when luck strikes. Is a 148 too short? Gnu’s website says to shorten down 2cm but I don’t think a 152 will feel like I’m riding any shorter than I am now. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!
48 is perfect for you. Anything bigger would be a boat.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback.
Yo can you do one More sizing question! Ha 6’2″ 210 pounds boot 12s
52
I ordered the 155 gremlin. Took a lot of hours to find one
Are you high?
Are you annoying?
Yes
Good for you, now I won’t bother with you.
Just curious why a 152 gremlin for a 6’2″ 200 lbs size 12 boot recommendation?
You’re still commenting? Get the fuck out of here nerd.
For the Gremlin
Hey,
How’s the gremlin compare to the arbor cask ? Thanks
I don’t honestly know as I never rode that.
So I rode with a guy riding a Never Summer Harpoon, and was so excited watching this guy rip, and pop with this looked way to small board. I had been thinking about a gremlin for next season. What are the differences between their volume shifting. I do like the gremlin is c3, and magnatraction as I’m on the icy east coast. Feels so foreign to look small, I’m a big guy at 6’3”, 250 lbs, size 12 boot as long as I can jam my feet into them.
Ones a Never Summer which means it’s a turd and the other is Gnu.
Sorry to beat a dead horse but seeing two answers for size rec for a size 12 boot (52 and 55). I’m 6’0″ 200-205 and like to carve hard. Main concern with downsizing is overhang. Thx.
You won’t have overhang. Get the 52.
I’m 5’8 150lbs , should I ho with a 148 or 152? I’m looking for something agressive and playful that can handle the many conditions(mostly ice, sometime pow) we have on the east coast! Thx man!
I’m size 9.5!
Aggressive and playful? That’s two opposite ends of the spectrum.
tue haha , agressive then .
Hello
210-220 pounds, site 12, for groomer riding and ice slope. Like to carve. Already have a jones frontier.
155 or 158 cm. Overlap with the frontier?
Thank s!!
There will be some overlap but it’s going to be noticeably stiffer and more aggressive. Kind of your choice on size. 55 for more playing around and easier turn initiation, 58 for more hard charging.
Thank you. Your video are so good
Do you know if this years model have changed much? I’m 6’ 180 lbs and size 9.5 looking at the 155. Is this too big or will this work? First time buying volume shifted.
Looking for a bit of a charger. I rode the 59 wide mullair and the 59 quiver killer.
Graphics and marketing.
Sooo 55 gremlin is legit??
Hello Angry! Love your reviews. Looking for the Gremlin but in doubt about the sizing. I’m 6’4, 170lbs, size 10,5. I want it for ripping down, no switch, no park, no jibbing, just curves and carves. 152 of 155?
55 will give you more power.
Hi Avran, debating between the Gnu Gremlin or the Burton Home Town Hero. Mainly riding mammoth every other weekend. Looking for a board that is stable and fun carve around the resort and the occasional side hits. I’m 5’ 5” 200lb and wear a size 8 boot. I’ve been looking at the gremlin in a size 148 or 152 and the Home Town Hero in a 152. What would you recommend?
That size 8 boot is going to be limiting on the Gremlin and at your weight you need to be on the 52. A 152 Hometown Hero is too small for you.
Thank you so much. I guess I won’t get any then, and use that money to renew my season pass for next year. I guess sometimes board don’t match the person.
