Your Edit Is Just Not That Good

There’s a reason amongst certain circles it’s referred to as the NoPro instead of GoPro. You know you’ve been on the chairlift and seen someone who is mediocre at best, riding around either with it on their helmet looking like a unicorn with down syndrome or attached to their wizard wand waving it at the person in front of them like they’re going to magically cast a curse of rail destruction. You might have even shook your head while asking yourself, “who the fuck would watch that?” Sadly some of these people get the great idea that showing their edits to the world will make everyone be in awe of their skills. This is not the case and the reason Yobeat has Rejected Edits by Jerm.

As this site has shifted more to posting edits, webisodes, and full parts we too have now been forced to watch craptacular filming skills with mediocre riding. It’s in watching these video tidbits that we have to validate whether it’s worth the time to post an edit or just ignore it. Occasionally I will leave some constructive criticism masked under the harsh truth that isn’t sugar coated or ‘Real Talk‘ as it’s known amongst those in the know. It’s in using this real talk that sometimes those with weak mental fiber can’t take the harsh realities set forth and sometimes try to engage in a battle of wits. I encourage you to see how one pro rider and his little lackey should not have presented themselves when dealing with the real truth.

Now as you can see I’m not necessarily hating it just stating the truth the song is painful and the riding was meh. But I’ll let you judge it for yourselves.

And as I suggested Yobeat might be a better place to send it to as they have more experience with rejecting edits. Having angry undertones is somewhat implied due to the namesake of this very website and anyone with deductive reasoning should comprehend this. At this point one of the other riders in said edit decided to step into the thunderdome for some mental fencing.

Notice how heated he is that all I said was the song sucked and the riding was meh. But like a good mentor to the young he has to go defend not only this bad edit, but his friend and his riding. I’m sorry that I live in a town called Breckenridge where good riding happens on the daily and that I will not further damage my hearing through listening to music that sounds like a cat has been shoved up an elephants ass while being sodomized with a weed-whacker.

I’m pretty sure stating that the edit was for their ego’s was why he wanted me to watch it, but good on you Collin. Strange I’ve lived in Colorado about 7 years and I’ve never heard of you either. Then again I don’t go to Echo because it’s like going to the 90′s only with more lame asses that can’t ride a real park and since there isn’t enough Chernobyley to power my hot tub it’s just not going to happen. Once again anger is not hate it’s two separate emotions remember to differentiate these please. Although I did offer to send this edit to Yobeat’s Rejected Edits to let the professor of edit grading himself Jerm dictate if it would pass or fail on the stoke scale.

Is it really ballsy to film with a GoPro and upload it to YouTube? Back in the day we used this format called VHS and would take it to our local shop where we would physically interact with people and be criticized. It was far more ruthless than this Internet thing we all use nowadays. Cool you had the best season of your life, but how many seasons is that? Comparing your best season to more than half a life time of my best seasons or those of anyone else might not hold any merit. As far as being a dick perhaps it’s just the nature of this very website or the fact I was making astute observations about snowboarding that differ from your own.

After pointing out a few funny facts mainly the riding was sub par, filming was whatever, and the song well I don’t need to go into the song the comment about a 10 inch spike nail drives home the point, this kid went for nuclear melt down by going for the name drop. This could possibly be one of the worst things you can do when you are a nobody in snowboarding and trying to act bigger than an entity that is larger than your microcosm of snowboarding.

Am I too good for your edit? Obviously not it got posted in this article along with your social interactions. Congratulations instead of taking criticism something we all will have to take throughout our lives you instead decided to get butt hurt and throw out the threat of telling the marketing director of your friends sponsor about this. I’m sure he’s not too stoked on this and I might even get an angry email asking me to take this story down but for comedies sake and the fact that life lessons sometimes need to be taught the hard way this will remain.

Oh and if you want to see a good edit with a pro rider I’ll use Anthony “Crowbar” Corbo he also rides for Never Summer, kills it, understands criticism and that he’s a marketing tool for his sponsors. You have a long way to go kid before you should engage in social interactions with media entities or make any threats.

Please explain one thing: Why can’t kids who grow up in the States figure out the difference between your and you’re, there, their and they’re??

  2. If you’ve bore witness to our public education system and the fact most parents are fucking retards you would understand.

  3. David Z says:

The song makes me want to die. 10 seconds in. Should I keep watching?

  4. Dan Z says:

Dave Z, only if you want to feel the urge to pull a 10 inch spike nail through your penis and out your ass. So, no.

This was a great read, being a film maker myself, I have gone through all the harsh criticism of the internet. Although I understand where Angrysnowboarder is coming from. That edit was painful to watch, but you live and learn, make the video private if you don’t want the world to express how bad it really was….and leave the go pro at home.

  6. Winters says:

The song is like a shitty dream on acid and is the theme song to a 90′s Arnold Schwarzenegger movie…

  7. C.K.G. says:

Can’t say it enough: STEADY CAM… Squash the gopro footy and get and/or build a real steady cam. Both edits could use more stability. Shaky shots ain’t no good breh!

  8. Jenise says:

“looking like a unicorn with down syndrome” ahaha well said.

These kids are living in fantasy land if they expect to not get any negative criticism about content posted online. There will be someone who doesn’t like your stuff, even if it’s an octo-cork over a 200ft, someones gonna not like it. If you can’t handle that, get off the internet.

First off, I’m pissed off this article brought views to that socosta bullshit edit. Second, the park and rec edit wasn’t much better. Smells like we’ve been duped into giving both shit-edits views. I also couldn’t distinguish which track I disliked more for snowboarding.

  10. Steelo says:

Maybe try sending it to Nope Snowboards. Thats about the calibre of riding for sponsorship from them.

  11. I believe you mean this was a trap.

  12. Chris H says:

I’m not mad at you. You call it like you see it.

  13. Chris H says:

Pretty sure this is the first time my name has been dropped…anywhere.

  14. I was more surprised he didn’t drop Micah’s name.

  15. dominic Komloske says:

dude im 16 i said shit i shouldent have and im sorry i made such a big deal over it, im done snowboarding i quit and all i can say is im sorry for causing such a fuss, sorry to everyone ive fucked up im stupid for saying that. im sorry

  16. Kling says:

seriously how the fuck can you compare the 2. One is a nationally ranked pro doing some sick riding with professional video and editing, the other is a bunch of wipeouts and barely landed tricks off small jumps. Whats the point of even commenting? Have you ever seen anyone snowboard? wtf… no offence to the kid but those comments are downright insulting, at least their ignorance gives you away.

  17. wiley coyote says:

Chris, first of all…..have respect. Angry and Co. have been at this shit for awhile now.
Do yourself a favor and bow out.
I’m an unsponsored rider from Utah, that gets around and does a little riding myself. That was a bullshit edit, I saw not one ounce of style in that and thought it was a joke. You knew before you put it out.
But let me say this…..fuck the haters, get out there and push your riding, watch other edits, push your riding, feel, live and breathe snowboarding and come back with another edit. Perseverance always pays off!

  18. Ur Mom says:

    That song is totally horrible!!!

  19. Jenise says:

    Dominic:
Don’t say you’re done snowboarding and gonna quit because of this. If you love what you do, don’t let anyone stop you. My first year living in Tahoe I got put on blast on a blog saying I’d “run home crying to my parents before the season was over” or something like that. But I didn’t. And this shouldn’t make you quit either.
Like I said in my last comment, no matter what you do, someone isn’t going to like it, and that extends to everything, not just snowboarding. Just take this as a learning experience and move on. So there’s a negative post about you online. Whatever. It gives you a reason to prove yourself now. Work on your riding, your style, your video editing, and try again next season. Show everyone that you can grow from this.
And no one is going to remember this three weeks from now anyways.

What is your opinion on those who make edits, and upload them to youtube, without any pretences?
Is it just shit videos all round that you hate, and therefore you hate most of the youtube stuff, or did this just piss you off because he thought it was awesome, sent it to you and was then suprised it wasn’t awesome?

I’ve got videos on youtube, if you came across them would you point out every little mistake, or would you just ignore it, or offer suportive critisism?

This is all out of curiosity, by the way.

  21. If I don’t know it’s there it doesn’t exist.

  22. Anthony says:

good grammar is the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you’re shit. the edit got taken down by the way
