It’s been fifteen years since the citizens of Alaska’s little known ski resort Bull Mountain defended themselves from the takeover of Majors Resorts. While Out Cold will always be the seminal mainstream snowboard movie people use when discussing being a snowboard bum, I thought it was high time to check back in with Rick Rambis, Jenny, Anthony, Pig Pen, Stumpy, Luke, and all the characters that made this town what it is.
Ted Muntz: Having realized that Bull Mountain would be a viable option to sell, Ted Muntz spent a few years wooing potential investors and giant corporations to buy the fledgling resort. After Vail Resorts initiated their Epic Pass and realizing they would have a whole town and base area to expand, CEO Rob Katz worked a deal and in the spring of 2009 Vail bought Bull Mountain for 1.5 million dollars and an undisclosed amount of stock. The mountain was renamed to Snowy Creek as that was deemed to have the best market appeal. Ted Muntz was quoted as saying, “Well my dad would probably be upset, but who cares he’s dead, and it’s not my problem anymore.” He now lives in a condo near the beach in Southern California and lives off his stock dividends. Once a year he visits Snowy Creek to remind himself of how much he hates as he puts it “that shit-hole mountain”.
John Majors: The founder and CEO of Major Resorts fell on hard financial times after the failed acquisition of Bull Mountain coupled with the crippling economic crisis of 2008. As a result of poor management and over extending his properties he had to sell off his properties to Boyne Resorts and other investment firms. Currently he is in talks with Extreme Entrepreneur Liko Smith to open a one of a kind snowboarder resort in Iowa. He is currently on wife number 7 who is a Crossfit Instructor and from somewhere in Eastern Europe. His step daughters still don’t talk to him.
Rick Rambis: The leader of the 2001 Snownook rebellion has fallen on harsh times. While he might have been the best snowboarder on the mountain, he was sidelined with a double ACL replacement in 2006 that he never fully recovered from. As the pain was too much he fell into deep depression from opioid abuse. Jenny eventually left him with Rick Rambis Junior and he was subsequently fired from Snowy Creek after failing the standard drug employment test for new hires implemented by Vail Resorts. He now drives a plow car removing snow from all the multi-million dollar homes that line the resort and can be found almost every night sitting on a bar stool wallowing in self pity talking about how he used to be the best snowboarder on the mountain. Lance sometimes feels bad and buys him a shot of Jager when he’s in town for Gay Ski Week.
Jenny: Finally stopped getting stood up by Rick and they got together for a few years. She helped him recover from his double ACL replacement in 2006, but had to leave him due to his drug abuse and realizing that he couldn’t financially support himself let alone her and their son, Rick Rambis Junior. She is now the head of marketing for Snowy Creek and has since married a successful realtor. Her son is a professional mogul skier and she couldn’t be happier. She had her husband hire Rick to plow their driveway so that she at least knows he has some sort of income.
Anthony: After a news story made its way to the lower 48 and Anthony was showcased, his career outside of being a snowboard bum took off. The early 2000’s were a weird time with rappers hiring snowboarders to be hype men and Puff Daddy taking notice of Anthony brought him on to his entourage. He spent the early 2000’s traveling with P. Diddy and wearing snowboard gear in weird locales. As that wound down he used his hype man money to put himself through college and is now a successful hedge fund manager on Wall Street. In 2010 one of his investments took over ownership of some of Major Resorts and has a small stake in Vail Resorts. While he doesn’t live the snowboard bum lifestyle anymore, he looks back fondly on how it was the catalyst to his wealth. He still can’t ride down the mountain.
Luke: With Vail Resorts acquiring Bull Mountain the Hot Tub Casanova as he became known around town found his true calling in hot tub installation and repair. He successfully managed a staff of 20 full time employees and had contracts with all of the larger hotels and million dollar homes. In 2015 a home video surfaced of him in a lewd act with one of his showroom hot tubs and he has since sold the business to move back to the lower 48 states.
Pigpen: Realizing that lesbian chat rooms were only the start of the future of sexual conversations, Pigpen took some online courses in video networking and established one of the largest live webcam chatrooms in the mid 2000’s. His innovative take on this put him at the forefront of porn technology and he was able to be one of the founding investors in Porn Hub. As of 2016 he is trying to become the first person to shoot porn in space.
Lance: After realizing that he was in fact gay, he fully embraced it, and now runs the largest gay ski and snowboard club in the world. Every year their annual summit meeting comes to Snowy Creek where Jenny helps organize Gay Pride Week at the resort with him. He has become instrumental in helping professional skiers and snowboarders come out to the public. He had a short fling with Eric, but when asked about it he said, “things were great, except he always wanted to me to stick various household items up his ass.”
Eric: After a successful rectal boot extrication and a failed relationship with Lance. Eric found his true calling as a Youtube Vlogger. His Vlogs about various items you can shove up your ass have earned him the title of Anal Lord across the Internet. His channel has over 2 million subscribers and his videos average almost a million views. He has highly lucrative product endorsements with Love Fists and KY Gel. As of 2016 he is in talks to come work with Pigpen at Porn Hub on some new space adventure video chat room.
Anna and Barry: Have remained happily married. Barry is a 7 time Winter X-Games Para Athlete and won two gold medals at the Para-Olympics. His medical training has allowed him to experiment with stem cell research and he now has regained some mobility in his legs. Anna is a stay at home mom to their 6 kids in their Encinitas California home. Barry still has his mullet.
Inga: After copiously flaunting her beauty across the village of Bull Mountain and being documented at the Snownook grand opening as being an exhibitionist her career took off. She starred in numerous SyFy channel originals and was a staple of late night Cinemax movies. Currently her career has fizzled out a little bit but Pigpen has been in talks for her to star with him in a new movie called Star Sexcapades which will be filmed in space.
Stumpy: After Vail Resorts moved in to Bull Mountain and renamed it Snowy Creek, Stumpy lost it. His last bastion of hope that the world would not be overly corporate caused him to further slip into his own delusional reality. This resulted in him challenging Vails CEO Rob Katz to a gentlemans duel. Rob Katz accepted and in the fall of 2010 Stumpy was shot in the head. After awaking from a coma three months later and having doctors inform him that he had a laundry list of psychiatric problems he was able to get the help he needed. He is now on the board of directors at Vail Resorts and oversees all their mergers and acquisitions. He has no recollection of his past as the village idiot of Snowy Creek, and he’s OK with that.
Papa Muntz: His statue was melted down and used in erecting a sign to welcome the world to Snowy Creek for the 2024 Olympics. He is rolling in his grave and upset that Bull Mountain went and changed.
