The weekend is over and the U.S. Open has closed down. We have new champions across the spectrum of disciplines. If you were brave enough to sit through the live webcasts from Go 211 I commend you. That was one of the worst things I’ve ever attempted to sit through.
The biggest upset had to be that every ones favorite red headed stepchild mangled his ankle and couldn’t compete. This left the door open for Danny Kass to swoop in and win title number five from the event. He promptly left and went home to eat hot dogs with his dog and watch the rest of the open online.
The shittiest part of the Open had to be the slopestyle course. Half the riders in the semi finals weren’t making it past the knuckle on jump three. Then after the weather changed up again more than half couldn’t make through the course. That was one of the worst things I watched. I kept envisioning ACL’s exploding and peoples careers ending.
I caught a quick interview with Chanelle Sladics and she said the girls were scared to hit the course since the guys weren’t making it. I don’t blame them it looked to me like the pitch for the course could have been on a steeper slope or the jumps could have been built differently. Either way something should have been fixed.
With White not being there to win the over all TTR title, Peetu Piiroinen snagged that. Good for him. Chas Guldemond walked away with 145 large in his pockets. Good for him.
