Conditions: Sunny blue skies, cold temps, chalk like snow off the trails, hard firm corduroy on groomers, and no wind.
Binding Adjustability: On the straps you have the standard tool-less adjustments, I will say that right out the box these need a screw driver to loosen them, but after that you’re fine. They work and work well. Everything else is pretty standard. You have the pop down toe straps to set in a different position. The heel strap is connected to the high back and through the chassis which does give some limitations.
Straps: The straps are plush and hold you in well. The toe strap is a bit bulky and takes a bit of effort to center on your boot, it seems designed more for a pointed toe boot than a snub nosed one. The heel strap holds you down well and has the option of being either more surfy or freeride-esq depending on which way you want to flip it. I went with the freeride aspect.
Ratchets: The ratchets work and work well enough. My only gripe is that the lever on the heel ratchet could be bigger for easier use, but that’s not anything of importance. They lock in and move fluidly.
Highbacks: The highback is just the right height to let you drive into it and not cause calf bite. They’re a middle flex which is nice as it allows you to do some tweaking when buttering and hitting a jump.
Binding Flex: This is a middle of the road binding that has just a bit more stiffness to it so you can charge.
Ride: Overall this is a binding that lets you go from the peak to the park. You can tweak and play around with it where you need to but still drive into it and lay a trench. It’s not the dampest binding out there but it’s also not the liveliest either. You’ll feel some chatter, but it absorbs the micro vibrations so your foot doesn’t get fatigued.
Rider in Mind: The all mountain freestyle guy.
Personal Thoughts: This is a binding that I could ride everyday and so could you. I rode it with the hard bushings and it didn’t feel over powering. It was great at absorbing chatter when I wanted it but still let me feel everything when I needed to.
