Conditions: Sunny blue skies with some clouds in it, low to moderate winds at times, warmer temps, frozen chunder, ice, slush, and some hero snow thrown in for good measure.
Flex: This boards stiff that’s for sure. You have that full on directional flex with softer nose (especially where the rocker is) then it just gets stiffer to the tail. Now here’s the thing about the tail when you’re on edge you gain a little more flex in the tail vs being flat based. The reason for this is the split tail. This gives you the ability to push into it and have some give before it rebounds. Torsionally there’s a little flex to it but it’s not overwhelming which makes it just enough to twist the board when you need to.
Stability: This board is stable. You do get some chatter under the front foot because of the rocker in the nose vibrating and sending those vibrations back to your insert pack, but when you let this board rip you never have to worry about if it’s going to be smooth gliding or not.
Ollies/Pop: There’s so much energy out of the tail when you load that camber zone up you feel it engage and rebound. This just propels you into the air. Hitting a mellow roller but want to impress that group of old skiers standing around by the rest area/slow sign? Yeah load it up and boost. What you put in you get double if not more out of this board and it wants to get you in the air. Now I will say your knees will take a hammering from all the rebound in the camber portion so be aware of that.
Butterability: Yeah, no go fast and spray. I didn’t even really bother except for some high speed tail wheelies. This isn’t the board for it.
Carving: THIS IS WHAT THIS BOARD WAS MADE FOR! Go fast and leave a trench. The initiation off the front foot is quick and smooth. A lot of this is due in part to the rocker in the nose, but once you get it on edge the new Roll In construction takes over and you feel the power of it grip even on ice. When you’re one edge you can drive off the back foot and change your transition directory with minimal movements, yet while these movements are easy there’s still a ton of power form this board. Overall whether you’re doing short quick carves (which actually take more effort than longer ones) or long hard drawn out carves this board just grips and rips.

Personal Thoughts: OK so I’ve had a love and hate relationship with this board, bordering more on the hate side of things. But here’s the thing adding the split tail off the Alter Ego, throwing the Roll In construction on the sidewall, and giving this thing a nice stone ground finish has made it a rocket ship. Hauling ass and spraying skiers has never been so easy. This is a deck for those that want power underfoot and like dominance. It sits on pair with decks from other brands in that hardcore charger line.
