The 2021 Ride Superpig Snowboard Review

By Angrysnowboarder @angrysnowboard · On March 29, 2021

Board: Ride Super

Size: 151

Camber Option: Directional Hybrid Camber. Rocker in the nose and camber from just outside the front insert through to the tail.

Bindings: Rome Black Label

Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy

Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10

My Weight: 200lbs

Resort: Steamboat Springs

Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, zero winds, cold temps, chunder snow, heavy snow, ice, and perfect corduroy.

Flex: This is that predictable middle of the road flex. You get more flex in the nose then right where the rocker zone ends it stiffens up through to the tail. There’s a fair amount of torsional flex to it which gives it some play.

Stability: The width and camber of this board really give it most of its stability. The nose does chatter at high speeds due to the rocker in it and you will feel a little bit of that under your front foot. In rutted out terrain this board manages to stay on top of everything but you do feel those big jarring hits through the center of the board.

Ollies: Between the camber, the carbon layup, and the shape of this board it has snap. Load it up (which takes very little effort) and prepare yourself to boost.

Pop On Jumps: I didn’t hit any jumps with this board this time but I can tell you that it still sends it on them with ease. Nothing has changed in that department.

Butterability: That rocker in the nose is optimal for locking in a big long press on snow and just holding. The tail can get sideways and let you slide. Overall if you know how to butter you’ll butter fine on this thing.

Jibbing: The nose is going to be the optimal section to lock into a press that rocker just creates such a huge sweet spot you never have to worry about it. The tail is stiffer and takes a bit more effort to press with. The camber section through the middle will hug a feature perfectly fine.

Carving: Here’s where this board feels most at home. It’s got the power in it to drive a hard carve and lay it over when you want but you can be laid back if you need to. Short quick carves or long hard drawn out ones it doesn’t matter. The camber gives you the load to snap it out of a turn while the rocker in the nose makes it easy to engage and initiate the turn.

Rider in Mind: All mountain freestyle focused freerider.

Personal Thoughts: Nothings change with this board since the last time I rode it and that’s good. It’s still super solid and fun. It’s playful where you want it yet has the power where you need it.

Comparable Boards: Telos Backslash, Lib Tech Orca, Yes Hybrid

I just got a Spring Break Slush Slasher, and am looking to add an all mountain board. Want to have something for a bit more stability charging groomed and ridding through powder and trees, going off jumps and a little bit of park. Will this board have too much overlap? Or would I be happier adding something like a Mercury, Algorhythm, or Mountain Twin instead?

Definitely too much overlap. Any of those other three are what you ideally want.

Thanks for great work. East Coast intermediate coming off 90’s neversummer board. Took several years off but back in now 22yr old daughter picked it up. 2 weeks a year east coast one week west. Used to like steep and fast but enjoying following up daughter learning to carve. 210 lbs with size 13 burton boots. Thinking about this, yes hybrid, solomon dancehaul, or rosignol sashimi. Like stable, edge hold , and carving. Something more chill than my current junk would be awsome. Suggestions and sizing would be so appreciated.

The Hybrid is probably what you want but I would say look at The Y. by Yes instead that should give you that edge hold and carve focus you want more than anything.

Thanks so much for expertise. Any size recommendations on the y and hybrid and does either board have serious advantage over other in afternoon rougher conditions at speed. Sorry to bother and thanks again for your great work.

      I’d get the 54.

At my weight and shoe size that is surprising. I bet people who have no real world expertise arguing with your knowledgeable advice the trigger that brings the anger. Thanks so much, think I’ll just go with your recommendation.

I’ve been looking for a volume shifted party board to hit pow with to complement my Neversummer Protoslinger. I’ve noticed my protoslinger is only really fun when I’m buttering, jibbing or hitting medium jump lines, and I wanted something more diverse when I’m not having a park day.

On pow days I like hitting steep trees and chutes, and on nonpark regular days I like hitting trees, jumping off sidehits, going to the park to mess around and occasionally charging. I also have noticed my protoslinger does not get much pop and isn’t stable on big jump lines which is something I would want out of my new board. Was looking into the superpig, warpig, and the party platter and was wondering what you thought was the best choice (and if not one of those which would you recommend). Also what size you think is best for the board I should get(6’3″, 190 lbs, 11.5 boot)?

If it helps to know what else I don’t like, my Neversummer West feels like it does everything okay but nothing well which is super frustrating.

Stop riding shitty Never Summers with their shitty camber profiles. After that everything else will feel so much better. For what you’re describing Superpig all day or a Telos Backslash.

Dope, do you think the 151 or 154 superpig makes more sense for my riding (I think I would get a 153 for the Telos)
