Board: Wired Directive
Camber Option: Multi-camber. A camber 2.0 with a minimal rocker zone in the tip and tail.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 195lbs
Resort: Powderhorn Mountain
Conditions: Mix of sunny and cloudy skies, warmer temps, firm corduroy that turned into slush snow due to the warmer temps.
Flex: This board has that middle of the road all mountain flex you would expect which gives it stability where you need it and play where you want it. You have a nice sweet spot in the tips that is playful, stiffening up through the inserts and middle, with a fair amount of torsional give.
Stability: This is one of those boards that you can charge when you want to and not worry about getting bucked around. There’s some flap in the tip and the tail but not an overly large amount.
Ollies: The camber profile gives this board snap and you can load it up and pop. It’s easy to engage and when you do it will rebound and pop.
Pop On Jumps: This board is a fully capable jump board. Won’t lie there weren’t any at Powderhorn that were open, but I did send some cat track gaps and side hits and that didn’t seem to be an issue.
Butterability: There’s a sweet spot in the tip and the tail you can lock into and when you do it will hold on well. There’s such a unique flex point in this board that just holds on. It feels like you’re on a jib board when you’re not.
Jibbing: Get your weight over that sweet spot and see it lock in and pop out when you want. The camber profile will hug a rail when you get sideways.
Carving: This board grips and rips. It locks in to carves and you can drive into the center of the board to get it to push off the tail and really slingshot out of the carve. This board rolls from edge to edge with minimal effort and you can see feel how it stays locked in.
Rider in Mind: All mountain freestyle guy that wants a board to do it all with.
Personal Thoughts: This board is definitely a well balanced quiver of one type of snowboard. The big thing to note with this board is that it’s got such a unique flex point. That really makes this board unique in how it flexes when you’re buttering or pressing on a rail.
