Board: K2 Party Platter
Size: 147
Camber Option: Directional Combination Camber Baseline. A directional camrocker.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 195lbs
Resort: Copper Mountain
Conditions: Overcast grey skies, warmer temps, mild wind, and firm fast groomers to slushy chundery ones.
Flex: With a playful flex you get a board that is just south of middle of the road. This means that you have a huge sweet spot in the nose and tail that is soft and a ever so slightly stiffer middle section. There is a fair amount of torsional flex that really allows you to drive the board.
Stability: The wider platform is where this board derives its stability. The Ollie Bar in the middle also helps with it not getting bucked around when in rutted out terrain. There is a little chatter in the nose and tail.
Ollies: There is so much snap from this board. When you load up the camber zone it rebounds aggressively but it never feels like you’re fighting it to get snap. In fact it loads up relatively easily.
Pop On Jumps: This board is at home on jumps, granted due to its size the big line might be out of the question. The snap off the lip is amplified due to the camber profile of this board.
Butterability: That rocker zone in the nose and tail is amazing for pressing into. It locks in and holds with relative ease, you do get a little fight but not enough that you feel like you’re muscling through it.
Jibbing: Slow or fast this board has you covered. That rocker zone gives an immense sweet spot for locking into presses, while the camber zone hugs any feature you get sideways on.
Carving: Here’s where this board shines. The sidecut rips turns. Short quick carves or long hard drawn out ones, it’s got you covered. You can get deep and low with this board and just drive it through a turn. The addition of camber gives this board more snap off the tail when you’re pushing deep into a carve.
Rider in Mind: The freestyle focused party boarder.
Personal Thoughts: Camber and a shape tweak have been so kind to this board. It has more snap, it turns better, and it’s more all mountain versatile. This is 100% a solid board for party boarding with the boys and just buttering, slashing, spraying, and jumping off everything.

The new K2 PP vs Slush Slasher. Does actually having a tail like the K2 make it that much more versatile? Does the Capita carve better or have anything else over the K2? @6′ 190 I figure the 150 for the Capita. Size for the K2?
Are you looking for a board for carving or what?
Thinking of picking up one of these or a Lumberjack. Currently on a NS Proto Type 2 (I know, I know) and am looking for a volume shifted board with some more pop for all mountain freestyle. Better float in pow would be a plus as well. Ride in the PNW (6’6” 220lbs 13 boot.) Any thoughts or boards I’m missing?
If you’re going more pow oriented then Lumberjack for sure. That board will be damper for that Cascade Concrete you’re busting through. I’d say also look at the Superpig from Ride.
Putting aside the obvious difference in camber profiles aside, would This feel materially different than a 17-18 warpig? I have one of those, but I’m thinking there’s going to be too much overlap.
The biggest difference you’ll notice will be in the tip/tail flex. Otherwise too much overlap.
I reallly want this deck. Unfortunately I rarely ride powder. Most of my days out I’m on hard pack with a lot of ice. Not sure how this would handle those type of conditions. 5’11 220 lbs. Would love a board that i can take in the Park and all over the mountain while still being able to handle hardpack.
That’s literally what this board is designed for. It’s less a powder board these days and more a volume shifted park/party board.
You have to go an ask a good question huh? I got a Space Case and a Slush Slasher looked like a fun second board. Yeah, I’d like a carver, but one that can be playful, butter, and decent in pow, which I’d probably ride the second board on 20% of the time. Also be nice to be okay on jumps too, which is why I’m thinking the PP is a better option. Just wondering what the Slasher has over it.
An interesting shape that makes people want to talk to you about it. Otherwise not much these days.
im very excited about this one, i have a slush slasher which i love but the flat camber is a different feel for sure- what id like to know is how this rides on ice- i washed ourt hard yesterday on a DOA and im ready to switch back to magnetraction only until spring
It rides like a cambered twin snowboard. If the edges are sharp it’s going to have some grip on ice.
So, if I pull the trigger on a Party Platter, @6′ 190 sz 10 boot, do I go 147, or 152? For a shortfat, I like the idea of downsizing as much as possible, I’m out east too. But if I like it enough, might be the board I ride more often that not. Would a 152 be better as a daily?
Thanks!
Now I should probably go get on VIP.
47 for sure.
5’`11, 190lbs, 10.5 boot – been on a 2012 NS Evo 157 the last 8 years and made it work for as an all-rounder from park to powder, but have just loved it and how it rides. Looking to get a new 156 NS Funslinger this fall, but also curious to try something new to add to the quiver. Something different. Something less twin, a shape totally different but still fun to goof around on. Currently looking into 2020 versions of a K2 PP 147, Nitro Squash 159 or a Ride MtnPig 159. Riding in BC and all over the hill minus big alpine stuff. Tree runs, rolling blues, steep blacks, chutey double blacks, mogul fields, side hits, all kinds of stuff. I’ve managed to make it all work on the NS and had fun, but figure just on those days with fresh tracks and some new snow it might be nice to have something to play on other than a purely park board. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
The Funslinger will be softer than your Evo was new so… PP is true twin contact point to contact point so if you want less twin probably not what you’re looking for. I’m not a fan of the MTN Pig it’s too stiff for what it claims to be and the Berzerker rides better or if you’re hung up on a Pig of some kind the Superpig is WAY better. The Squash is fun but the 59 seems big for your weight might do better with I believe it’s the 56, food for thought.
5’4″ 160lbs Sz9 boot. I just picked up a custom Marhar Archaic wide 148cm (25.6cm ww), so it’s a volume shifted board as well. I haven’t ridden it yet. I really want to get a PP. 142 or 147? 142 would no doubt be more nimble but I could see 147 being more versatile in Pow. Which sz or skip bc of overlap? I also have a NS instagator 144 for pow. Thanks.
Seems a bit excessive with overlap. If you did get the PP I’d say 42.
Best skate like pop out of all the 2020 boards you reviewed?
In general or on this board? Vague question.
Currently riding a skeleton key 154 and looking for a board that I can cruise on and be a little lazy but still pop side hits etc. Want to ride the mountain like a skatepark and searching for a board that enables that kind of riding. The PP sounds like it fits the bill. Does this board have the best skate like pop out of all the boards you rode and reviewed? Thanks for all of the great reviews and feedback.
It’s solid and if that’s what you’re looking for I’d say get it.
Got mine today. Psyched on the structured base, wasn’t expecting that. Not sure if this is cool, and maybe I’m missing something, but this review is confounding in so many ways. Sure good ride is a joke, but this? Next level dumb. https://thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/k2-womens-party-platter-2020-womens-snowboard-review/
FUCKING MORONS. That’s all you can say about their level of stupid. This is what happens when you have people that snowboard pretend they’re snowboarders.
I’m 6’1″, 210 lbs, sz 11 boot. I ride a mountain that has regular powder dumps. I don’t care about the park, but I want to be able to carve well, ride trees, ride switch, and just play around everywhere. My kids ride now (but not fast) and the playful nature of this board seems like it would help me slow down enough to not get too bored riding with them.
I’m looking at either the Party Platter 152 or 157, or a Jones Mountain Twin. Which would you recommend?
How about a Yes Y instead? Ever put some thought into that deck?
Thanks for all of the reviews. I’m 5’9″, 160lbs, with a size 9/9.5 boot. I have a 2018 Warpig in small (148cm) and enjoy it, but want to try another short/fat and sell one of them midway through the season. Where do you think each one excels? I imagine this one tail butters better (softer) and carves better with the camber? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Keep up the good work at team angry, you guys are killing it. #1 on all my board review searches these days.
There will be a bit of overlap with the Warpig and the PP. This one has more snap due to it having the added camber and it has that nice rebound out of presses you want where the Warpig sort of just rolls out instead.
Thanks that’s exactly what I wanted to hear. I’ll pick this up and sell whichever one I enjoy less. Thanks man!
I have looked at the Yes Y, but what I have read makes it seem stiffer than I would like and not as good for switch.
Back to my original question, if I do get a Party Platter, do you think I should get a 152 or 157, and why? I’m 6’1″, 210#, 11 boot. Thanks man.
If you want ultimate volume shift get the 52 as it’ll float like a 58 to a 60 and not sacrifice the ride. Otherwise if you get the 57 expect it to ride like a 165 plus length board.
Thanks for the advice. I pulled the trigger on the 152. Party on.
Hi Angry, Looking for some help on size ,147 or 152? I am 5ft 7in, boot size 8.5, and 185 lbs. II am going to use the board for west coast powder days and slushy spring park laps.
52
Thanks!
52.
I’m going to go with the yes jackpot or bataleon evil twin for a new park board. But can’t decide on a Warpig or PP for all Mountain freestyle fun while still being playful with side hit boosts, butters, etc. . Will most likely use it as my “powder” board too for this season until next year I can get a dedicated powder board as I’ve dumped all of my old decks. What would you recommend between the PP and Pig? 180lb size 10 boot 5’9 been, 32 years old and been riding for 20 years in Tahoe
The Warpig will be a little bit more versatile and not overlap your twin park board choice.
Angry,
I’ll admit I’ve let myself go a bit in the last couple years and now I am pushing 195lbs. I like beer. Size 10.5 boot, 5’9”. Looking to party on this board.
You gave a rave review on the 147, if spending your own cash would you stick with this size or do 152.
My other setups will be a Mercury 159, Outsiders 156.
Cheers from PNW,
Joel
Stick with that size unless you want more stability then bump up.
Found some cheap 2019 K2 Party Platters and 2018 Simple Pleasures for $300. Counting the Cool Bean out as it sounds like it rides like the Rossi Sushi which I didn’t particularly enjoy.
Is the 2020 Party Platter worth the extra $150?
The Cool Bean is drastically stiffer than the Sushi so don’t count it out. Way less torsional flex in the Cb. The 2020 Party Platter is completely redefined so it rides different than the 2019 version.
How is it transferring from edge to edge? I prefer a relatively quick edge to edge transfer. Do you think the Lien AT’s would work well with it?
The board rips from edge to edge fast. What I would do if I did go Lien AT’s is leave the heel block in and go for the stiffest customization on it if you want aggressive power transmission.
Coming from a YES Basic, what differences can I expect from riding the PP? I enjoy how easy to basic is to ride, it’s not catchy at all. How does the PP compare? I really like the versatility of the basic, but I would like something faster, snappier, while still being playful and nimble. Is this a good option?
It’s cambered, it’s drastically wider, and it has a completely different sidecut. Go buy a Yes Globe NSB.
Hey Angry,
Hope you are well.
I am 1.8m, 84 kgs(185 lbs) and a boot size 11.
I want to add the Party Platter in my 3 board quiver (Mind Expander 158, Tom Sims Pro 159W).
I will use it as chill board to slow down, improve my switch, and get back some confidence hitting small side hits.
I would love to downsize down to the 147 but the width (26.2cm) is roughly the same as the ME (26) and the Sims (26.4) and losing more than 10cm in length. The 152 has waist of 27cm.
Obviously, it would be great if the board can float me in some pow and the 152 would do that but would that be missing the point of volume shifted board?
For what it is worth, I think K2 advise downsizing 5-7cm.
Which would you pick? (and possibly why?)
Thanks in advance
I’d get the 47 and realize that what you want it for isn’t the pow capabilities or all mountain riding it’s for being a downsized deck.
I guess I knew that. Good to hear tough.
Ordered and can’t wait to ride it for new year.
Thanks a lot again!
PNW snow. Love trees, powder, and just bopping around the mountain. Looked into a k2 eighty seven and PP.
5’10” 165lbs. Can’t figure sizing out.
Love your reviews thank you
87 for sure if you’re up in the PNW you’ll find it more versatile. Get it in the low 150’s size.
Hey Angry
Would you recommend the PP or Yes standard?. Looking for a do-it-all twin “ish” board for all-mountain riding, boosting off side hits and slashing. I rarely find myself in the park.
Standard.
151 or 153? I’m 165lbs and size 9 boot. It’s a wider board so I’m leaning towards 151. I’ve ridden a 155 typo.
47.
Hi Angry, been watching a lot of your reviews, you rock!
I’m looking for a fun board that can handle both backcountry powder and groomers, occasionally popping off side hits and bumps. Is PP the right choice?
I’m 5’8″, 135lbs, size 10. If I should go for the PP, which length should I go for?
Thanks a lot!!
It’s not you’d be better off with a Ride Superpig.
Thanks Angry. Would you say I should go for a small?
Yeah that should work perfectly.
Thanks a lot Angry!
Hi. Can this board be used as a daily driver to just have fun in park and all over the mountain or am I better off doing that on a park deck?
100%
Cool. Thanks for the replay.
Hey Angry, I’m interested in a volume shifted board and enjoy riding switch. Right now I’m on a Flight Attendant which I like but feels really awkward riding switch, doable just awkward . I’ve been on other directional boards in the past and not felt this. How’s the PP? Should I just look into one of the volume shifted twins?
100% you’re on the right track. Other board I’d consider would be the Marhar Lumberjack or Lumberjack x if you wanted it in camber.
Yo guys, I’m looking into the pp and I’m 155lb, 5’10”, and a size 10.5 boot. I was thinking the 147 but am now leaning towards the 142 because I weigh less and also am probably a little shorter than Avran.
Best board reviews on the planet, keep it up guys!
Eh you might not want that 42.
I’ll probs just stick the 147 route then, thanks
Hey Angry,
Hope you have recovered from the Turkey weekend.
I am 6’0″, 250 lbs and a boot size 11. Ride pretty much just in Montana, once or twice will go to Idaho or Wyoming.
I want to add a board to my quiver of two (2015 Jones Mountain Twin 164W and Jones 2016 Carbon Flagship 162W, which I pair with 2015 Now Drive bindings).
Cannot decide between the Party Platter 157, Superpig 158, Orca 159, Mind Expander 166 and Ultra Mind Expander 162. Mainly looking for a fun/party board to ride with my sons all over the mountain.
Which would you pick (possibly why) and have I picked the correct size for my weight?
Which bindings would you pair with your pick?
Thanks in advance and for all the content you and Kevin provide the snowboarders of the internet.
Superpig 58 for sure. It’ll be in tune with what you have, still is a party board, isn’t as twin as a Party Platter, and you can rip it when you’re not party boarding as well.
Thanks for reply and advice, will be clicking the link on a 158 Superpig then
Looking for a fun all mountain board for ripping the powder, hitting side hits, tree runs, going off ledges etc.. I do 180s or 3s off pretty much anything I can. Looking at the PP and warpig. What would you recommend? I’m open to other boards too. Thanks!
Either of those would work as well as a Marhar Lumberjack or a Lib Short Wide.
Thanks if i went with the PP would you recommend 147 or 152. 6’3 165lbs sz 9.5. Main mountain is Mammoth in CA
47 is more in tune with your weight.
Hey There,
Should I go 152 or 157 for this board. I am 6’4 220ibs size 11. Use to riding only longer boards. This will be my first short board.
52 if you want to do more party boarding, 57 if you’re looking to let her rip.
6’2. 170lbs (have weight up to 185lbs). Size 11 burton ruler. I ride the epic pass in Tahoe. Mainly at kirkwood and heavenly. Which size? 47 or 52 ?
47
Will I still be able to carve and ride the whole mountain with the 47?
Yes.
Hey Angry,
Hope you are well.
I read the comments on Facebook and you say you rode the 52 but here it says 47.
Did you actually ride both?
Which would you pick for you?
Thanks a lot
Sorry half asleep, not Facebook, in the Youtube comments
Either will work.
Hey Avran, Im 215lbs with size 11 boots. I am debating on the 152 vs 157. I like to rip the groomers on the way to take a few park laps,. (Only small to medium jumps and lots of boxes and rails).. And the occasional pow day when Im lucky enough to get one.
52 for sure.
Thanks Im gonna get the 52 now. I appreciate your time and the videos. Keep up the good work!
Hi, I’m 5’8” and 150 lbs. with size 10 boots. Is the 147 Party Platter too big for all mountain riding? Hopefully a powder day here and there. Thanks
No it’ll work. Just be aware it’s got a more freestyle focus to it.
I am 6.3 and have a size 13 boot what size should I get and is this board wide so I don’t have much overhang current board has a lot
Did you even look at the tech specs?
Brother, need your wisdom. Bought the funslinger last year. Basically taught me how to ride. Fell at home with it. But as I advance i realize carving in it gets washy and uneven terrain is just death. Strictly ride east cost hard packed awful blues. Don’t care for park and don’t go out west yet to deal with powder. Was going to sell the FL and get a proto type 2. Thinking to stay with same profile just a bit stiffer with similar playfulness but more stability/carving. Should I try the PP? Tell you right now iv tried so many boards and funslinger was the first board that helped me advance. Don’t understand pop yet etc. I just carve, bomb, try to jump over everything and butter. What are your thoughts my good lad. Thanks in advance.
Iv Tried
ride machete. Solid but too stiff.
Rossi Magktek, was okay just not playful at all
Gnu riders choice, was Def too aggressive & not playful enough
Ultrafear carving was awful.
Ride kink super fun but i couldn’t carve on it for the life of me
Thanks bud. Cheers
Get a Gnu Hyper Kyarve instead. That camber profile/sidecut combo will give you what you want.
Thanks bud will look into it. I didn’t even know this board existed so you would Def chose this gnu over a proto type 2 right?
Oh fuck yeah!
Thanks my good lad. Always stellar. Keep up the solid content
Help, I’m 5’7 155 with 11.5 sized boots. Im lookin for 1 board to go thru trees, rip groomers, side hits, some park and some pow. lookin at the k2 party platter or warpig. lookin at 148 in the pig and either 147 or 142 in the party platter.
what would you choose and what size. Keep doin what your doin. thnx
Get the 48 pig.
Great thanx for quick reply. I have older bindings, what bindings would you suggest for my size and this board? I have 11.5 ride lasso boots. thnx
K2 Formula, Ride Rodeo, Burton Cartel .
Hi man love your Youtube chanel thanks for All the wisdom (throat punch :)).
I’m a gal with big feet, 9.5 mens boots,(where are my top 5 boards?) and I weigh 121,2 pounds. Usually ride a 147 Board. Looking for a All mountain freestyle Board. Would you recommend 138 Or 142 for the Party platter Or any other Board? Thanks a lot 😀
42 in this for sure, otherwise you could look at the Jones Mountain Twin. Also did a whole series of women’s Top 5 boards.
Thx a lot really appreciate it!
I was refering to a top 5 for women with bigger feet, 😛
Hey! I’m about 5’9, 165lbs, size 8.5 boot. I bought a 147 on a whim you think that will be okay for resort riding, groomers, freestyle, side hits, and some park?
You’re fine.
Awesome, stoked to get back boarding. Sprained my mcl and have been out for a few months. I’ve got some burton malavitas and genesis bindings… which do you think would fit the board better? I’m guessing the malavitas, but wanted to get your thoughts.
Malavitas.
Just saw your review on 2020 K2 Party Platter. You cautioned edge to edge response on a small size 8 boot. I wear a 9 boot. I’m 5’10” 200 lbs and was thinking of a 142 or 147. What are you thoughts ?
At your weight you want the 47. You should be fine.
Would a 142 be too small for me?
175lbs, 5’10, size 8 32-boots.
East coast conditions with some ice etc. Wouldn’t be my only board though. I have a 158 RCR all mountain board and a 153.5 directional S camber board.
Looking for something to have some fun playing with… side hits, some carving, butters, and tooling around while enjoying the turns and not bombing.
The waist width looked fine for my size and K2 states it’ll take riders up to 230 lbs (!?), but I’m between looking at the 142 or 147.
It’s going to be fine for you.
Thanks!
What would you think of the 2020 PP vs a 2017 Rome Buckshot (151)?
Overall my goal is to get something playful for some smaller jumps/features but mostly for buttering and side hits etc.
Not sure how much it matters but my two boards right now are a yup and omni. Trying to expand the quiver a bit and figuring out if a twin fits in better or if the PP is better suited. I know it’s volume shifted, but I’m having a bit of a hard time imagining when I’d ride the PP over the yup. I get that they feel pretty different and the PP is softer, but i feel like there’s overlap there. Is that crazy talk?
Thanks again.
Get the Buckshot for sure. It’ll fit between your Yup and Omni just fine.
Hey angry, looking for a new board. Got a slush slasher and DOA now. Love the volume shift on the slushy but want something with a little more tail for pop/landing. Looking at PP eighty seven and warpig. Like cruising and popping off anything I can while doing it.
I’d go with the 87 as it will feel the most like the Slush Slasher but has a tail to it.
Dope! Can you help with sizing? 6’4″ 215 with size 13 boots? Thanks!
52
Angry-
I want to play in the trees, carve groomers, hang with my kids, just have fun. I’m 50 yo, 190 lbs, 6’1″, 147 or 152? What would I give up with the 152?
Love the vids.
Thanks
A little more freestyle focus such as butters and pressing, but you’ll gain more edge hold for carving.
Hey!
I just started snowboarding again after 18 years and I’m seriously hooked.
I’m 35 yo, 180cm and weigh 90kg and ride in norway and sweden. I got a ride machete Gt 2016 161cm, way to stiff and a lib tech skate banana 2010 156cm, it’s feels like a good beginner bord but want more.
I have been reading and watching most of your reviews and want ONE board that can take me all over. I’m still in the learning progress but I like running side hits, jibbing, groomers and some small medium jumps in the park and when I have the opportunity pow.
Have been looking at the warpig 151 and PP 147. But I feel like the PP is more interesting with the camber and ollie bar.
What would you recommend me getting?
Of those two get the PP.
Cool. Are 147 the optimal length for me to?
Sure.
Hi Angry, off-season is a good time to grab a new board~ But I m still confusing the size. I m 5’6 140lbs 8.5boots. Would you recommend 38 or 42?
Thanks a lot!
Either will work for you.
Best reviews on the web! I have a signal disruptor as a daily driver stoked on that board, bought it a couple years ago after ridding a little camber division 23 board for like 8 years because I moved somewhere I could snowboard more. I want to pick up another board this offseason to ride some powder, trees and also fuck around when I have the kids out riding. I’d say I’m probably at the intermediate level and spend most my time on small to medium jumps and looking for side hits. Considering the PP or the warpig, but leaning towards the pp because the camber. Any thoughts?
Really comes down to what you want performancewise out of it. If you’re favoring camber then the PP over the WP would suit you. For what you’re describing with wanting a more pow/tree focused board the Warpig makes more sense.
Thank you for the reply!
Hey there Avran. Looking to take advantage of the spring/rona sales and I’m aiming at a party board. I’m thinking this or the Party Wave, but I’d like to hear your thoughts. 5’11”, 190lbs, size 10.5 (like it matters with these boards). I have a Sushi and I like it for the deep stuff, but it doesn’t really work on the spring chunder here in the PNW. I’d use this board for keeping things interesting during the long Tline summer. I don’t go in the park much, but I’ll roll side hits and canyon walls. Must be a good carver with camber, and butter reasonably well. Though ice riding isn’t a target, the mornings can be a bit “firm” until the sun does its work. So, i need something that won’t kill me while I await the slushy corn. The only other board in my quiver that a party deck might overlap with (besides the Sushi) is my 158 Ravine. What do you think?
In all honesty that’s just a lot of overlap. I personally wouldn’t do it.
I just ordered a 157 with 50% off as a fuck around kinda board and to do some park laps, next to the more serious Jones UMT 161W.
I’m 215lbs, is the 157 the right choice for me?
It’ll work for sure, could have gone down one more size.
I’m still slightly in doubt. The reason I went for the 157 is that the 157W box knife I had (before the JUMT) felt too short while the UMT length feels spot on. Too bad there isn’t a 155 option.
Sasquatch platter question, I’m 6’5 235 with a 12.5 boot, you’ve sold me on getting a party board and the platter seems to fit the bill. The weight recommendations are unhelpful by K2 as they are all the same range, given that I’m trying to decide between the 152 & the 157, live on the east coast, looking to carve and slash trees, would you recommend getting the deck with the wider waist or a bit shorter for maximum fun!
Danke
I’d probably go with the smaller one just because you’re on the East and those trees are a bit more gnarly than what you find out west.
Hey! Im 5ft8 165lbs size 8.5boots. What size K2 party platter do you recommend (142 or 147) for carving with speed on the groomers and powder days?
47
Love your reviews. I am looking at getting this board for my 15 year old son he is around 100- 110 pounds would the 147 or 142 to be best.
42 at that weight.
Dear Angry snowboarder,
Will you review the 2021 versions of this board and the Ride Warpig anytime soon? I (still) can’t decide which of these I should buy. Also, being 6’4″, 235lbs with US12 boots, should I go for the longest versions or size down further? My other board is a Yes Standard 167 to handle harder charging overall.
I want a partyboard to handle park runs, some trees, runs with small kids, side hits, well, everything! I consider myself being a somewhat advanced rider that was doing fine I the park with spinning 5s of the XL jumps and such, but now age is taking it’s toll and I rather go in the medium sized jumps or go find fun side hit festures.
I’d appreciate any help and suggestions.
Nothing changed in those boards near as I can tell so the reviews still hold up. You’re a big dude you’ll need a bigger size.
Great, thanks!!
Then the only thing left is for me to decide which one to get… I’m kind of leaning towards the warpig for overall increased usability and fun. Would you agree?
Also, would you recommend the Rome Katanas or perhaps a pair of the new Ride C-8 bindings for this board? My old Burton Cartels are irritating me since I can’t center them enough so I kind of want to try some other bindings. I hated the Union Stratas by the way, so those are no-go for me. Any other bindings to consider?
Sure.
… And any thoughts regarding what I mentioned about bindings?
+/- 175 pounds, 9 boot, fairly experienced and aggressive rider that likes to dork around. Own a jackpot, mercury and orca but looking for a fun spring time playful yet able to be driven hard play board. 47 party platter fit the bill? Or something else?
I should also mention I’ve had my eye on a slush slasher for a while but wonder despite the width if it would be TOO playful and not hold as well (being flat camber). The board will be ridden exclusively in AUS
You have your bases covered with the three boards you have, just ride the Orca in the slush.
Hi Angry, I’m looking at two 2020 Platters, a (hardly) used 147 or new 142 for similar prices. I’m 5’7”, 165 lbs, 10 boot. Currently ride a Jones Mtn Twin 157, like it but want more skate feel to compliment it.
Looking for tight fast carving, ollies off everything, buttering. Is there a big difference between the two sizes for my weight? Or just get the cheaper of the two?
You could go either size honestly, 42 will obviously be more playful.
I got the 47. Recommended bindings to go with? I have (used) Salomon Halograms on the Mountain Twin and could use those but haven’t ridden anything else besides rentals
So if you stick with K2 I’d do either the Line up of Lien AT, otherwise Rome DOD, Ride A or C 4 or 6’s, Union Strata or Contact Pro depending on how surfy you want to go, and Burton Cartels.
Awesome thanks!
Actually now I’m looking at the Flows after watching Kevin’s reviews and the Top 5 bang for the buck video. The NX2 and Fuse, leaning towards Fuse.
Fuse is a better match up.
Hello,
I am looking for a board that has a soft flex and big pop but can still handle massive sidehits and big sidecountry booters. I weigh 110 pounds and have size 10.5 boots. I think I would take the 142 over 138 so it can handle bigger jumps. Is the Party Platter a good option. I also need it to be able to throw down big spins and flips. Thoughts?
Thanks.
Get the 42 go shred.
Hey Angry,
Do you have a rec for a skinny lanky guy like me? I fluctuate between 150-165lbs and I’m about 6ft. I ordered a 147 rather than a 152 but curious what you think
Also im a shoe size 10.5
You got the right size.
Intermediate rider, want the Party Platter for Eldora, CO, all mountain, powder, groomers, small/medium park. Im torn between the 47 and 52. Im 5’8, 180lbs, size 9.5 boot. What you think, 47 or 52. Thanks man
47
Hi
I am an intermediate/expert rider 145lbs 5’10”.
I am riding Salomon Assassin 155. Also tried Jones Flagship 158 for pow and freeriding last year, but didn’t like it becase it only wants to go fast and not fun at all. Now selling it.
I am looking for something pow specific that will actually be fun. I am mostly a powder hound and likes to jump off any bump I see. I also ride my assassin in pow and it is super fun jumping and goind switch, but not suitable for deep days. Also do not like chattering on uneven terrain with assassin.
Is PP 147 will be enough for powder? I can get a very good deal on it. Any other options? On my radar for now Salomon HPS, Sickstick, Bataleon PartyWave, Lib Tech Orca (overpriced and hard to find), Capita Kazu, Ride Superpig (dislike its nose), Nitro Fusion and Dropout
Personally I’d get a Nitro Dropout.
I am 6’4″ 250 and ride size 13 boots. I’m riding the GNU Antigravity 162W and love it. I am trying to decide between PP and the Superpig. I’m in my 40s and don’t get too crazy these days but wonder if the Superpig might be too advanced for me compared to the PP. Looking to just do groomers, powder and trees. I’m worried that the Warpig might be too soft, otherwise I’d just get that.
Superpig would be ideal for what you’re looking for. As would the Warpig. It really comes down to what camber profile you’re looking for. The PP is a bit too twin/freestyle specific for what you’re looking to do.
Thank you!
I’m 5’11, 175 lbs and size 9 boots. I ride on the East Coast, mostly groomers/hard pack. Doing a lot with the kids these days so my riding has slowed down, but still enjoy sneaking out for some bombers. I was looking at a slightly used 152 PP at a really good price, but based off all these comments am wondering if that will be too big. I currently ride an older burton custom 157. Should I hold out and keep looking for a 147 or jump on this 152?
You should be fine, I say go for it.
Hey, currently own a gnu hyper kyarve 154 and the OG Wayfinder. I weigh 150lbs and live in the PNW, I get about 20-30 days a year at the mountain. Would the 142 PP be a good spring board for mainly hitting side hits and fucking around with the boys? Or would I not notice much of a difference from the hyper kyarve? Been looking at the Party wave plus and the gnu gremlin too, but thinking both of those will be too stiff…
It should compliment those other 2 boards there will be some overlap so be aware of that.
Howdy Angry,
Great review thank you!
I’m looking into getting a new volume shifted board. I am 6’2” 170lbs with a size 12 burton ruler boot. Currently riding an Arbor Westmark Rocker Mid-wide at 160cm that feels a little long for me (hard to maneuver in tight/steep spots). If I went with the PP, should I go 152 or send a 147? I learned on a big ass 161 and so I’m pretty used to a long stable board but I wonder whether I might be underestimating the stability of the 147 PP. I also find the Arbor feeling a little too stiff when it comes to butters.
I ride wide open blue to black groomers well but find myself getting caught up trying to turn my Arbor through trees, chutes, and moguls. Starting to explore the park and get a grip on switch riding as well and would love something like the PP with a little better powder performance than the westmark.
I am afraid of the truth, but I know you’ll give it to me straight… do I send the 147?
and maybe if there’s another hot board you have in mind let me know. Party wave is cool. I’m pretty much hitting Copper and A-bay this season.
You may like a Warpig in the 48 it’s stiffer than people think.
47 bud.
Thanks Avran! I knew it had to be 147 but I needed to hear from an expert. I should totally look more into the pig. Seems like a sweet board. Maybe its not a good basis for board selection but the K2 graphic kicks ass compared to the pig in my eyes.
I am kinda thinking Yes Y now… maybe 151 or 154
Alright I’ve commented enough… thought I’d finish saying I bought a rossignol sushi. What a f*cking curveball.
Shit happens.
Hey Angry,
Thanks for the reviews, they are awesome.
Been riding a Rossi XV magtek 163 for a few years. Its amazing for steeps, carving groomers, icy/uneven terrain, general freeriding. One downside is I’ve found it hard to maneuver on tight tree runs / moguls (due to the length).
Looking to get a second more playful board that complements it well. Been reading your reviews on some of these short-wide boards for days.
Can’t make up my mind between Rossi Sushi 145W, and K2 PP 147, K2 SP 151.
Want something that does well in trees/pow, while still being able to pull off euro-carves in groomers. I’m not big on park/freestyle, but still interested in something that can hit small/medium rails and jumps every now and then with the boys (as I don’t want to do this on my xv magtek).
Definitely prioritizing trees and carving ability overall though, which is what I do mostly.
I’m 6’2, 185lbs~.
Would love to get your thoughts.
Thanks
Just read your review on the Jones Mind expander too actually, would also throw it in the mix (probably at 150, or 154?).
Telos Backslash 153.
Thanks will take a look.
I have a 2019 Lib Tech Box Knife that I like and still has a lot of life left but found a great deal on a 2020 Party Platter. Would it be a great complimentary second board to have or should I go for something more “different” like a Slush Slasher?
Little too much overlap honestly. Get the Slush Slasher if you go that volume shifted route.
I got a ray gun in a 160w I use it as a free ride board with little success in the park Size 13 230lbs. I’m looking for a board that could help me hit the park better I was thinking party platter or warpig so I could downsize a little bit. Or do you think there to much overlap between the raygun and these boards and should I just keep trying to hit the park until I get better I was thinking the size of the board was effecting my maneuverability in the park
And by free ride I mean an all mountain free ride
I’d get the Party Platter in a 152 personally for you.
Do you think I should stick with a quiver of 1 with just the raygun or do you think the party platter will compliment it for park/ pow good under my circumstances lmao. thanks for the reply love the vids
also I’d be riding the party platter on my indys is that a good pair of bindings to throw on it
Stick with one.
thank you
Appreciate it
Hey angry love your reviews!
I’ve got the chance of a 2021 147 for £220 and I’m wondering if it’s worth buying for all mountain shredding in Scotland with side hits surprising powder right now and small to medium jumps.
I’m 5’8 140-150 lbs and size us 10 feet.
Currently riding a 2020 supernova 156.
Cheers
I would do it.
Hi Chief!
200-210lbs depending on the month and looking at this as a quiver of one board when traveling abroad, do you think the 147 will hold up in pow or should I bump up to the 152 for more powder versatility?
Cheers!
Bump it.
Thanks!
