Board: K2 Party Platter
Camber Option: Directional Combination Camber Baseline. A directional camrocker.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 195lbs
Resort: Copper Mountain
Conditions: Overcast grey skies, warmer temps, mild wind, and firm fast groomers to slushy chundery ones.
Flex: With a playful flex you get a board that is just south of middle of the road. This means that you have a huge sweet spot in the nose and tail that is soft and a ever so slightly stiffer middle section. There is a fair amount of torsional flex that really allows you to drive the board.
Stability: The wider platform is where this board derives its stability. The Ollie Bar in the middle also helps with it not getting bucked around when in rutted out terrain. There is a little chatter in the nose and tail.
Ollies: There is so much snap from this board. When you load up the camber zone it rebounds aggressively but it never feels like you’re fighting it to get snap. In fact it loads up relatively easily.
Pop On Jumps: This board is at home on jumps, granted due to its size the big line might be out of the question. The snap off the lip is amplified due to the camber profile of this board.
Butterability: That rocker zone in the nose and tail is amazing for pressing into. It locks in and holds with relative ease, you do get a little fight but not enough that you feel like you’re muscling through it.
Jibbing: Slow or fast this board has you covered. That rocker zone gives an immense sweet spot for locking into presses, while the camber zone hugs any feature you get sideways on.
Carving: Here’s where this board shines. The sidecut rips turns. Short quick carves or long hard drawn out ones, it’s got you covered. You can get deep and low with this board and just drive it through a turn. The addition of camber gives this board more snap off the tail when you’re pushing deep into a carve.
Rider in Mind: The freestyle focused party boarder.
Personal Thoughts: Camber and a shape tweak have been so kind to this board. It has more snap, it turns better, and it’s more all mountain versatile. This is 100% a solid board for party boarding with the boys and just buttering, slashing, spraying, and jumping off everything.
