Resort: Copper Mountain
Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, zero wind, warmer temps, snow that was slushy, icy, fast, firm, and perfectly groomed.
Flex: This board comes in just past a middle of the road through the center of the board but about a middle of the road flex in the tips. You have a nice sweet spot that is maxed out from the end of the camber zone to the upkick. There’s a fair amount of torsional flex to this board.
Stability: This board is mostly stable whether charging hard on a groomer or plowing through a rutted out side hit patch of death. You’ll notice a little bit of micro vibrations at the tip and tail which does resonate somewhat back underfoot.
Ollies: There’s snap in this board and you can feel the camber initiate the flex point right at the flat section to create a spot that the board will pop from. You only have to somewhat engage it to get it to snap.
Pop On Jumps: This board is at home on jumps and does its thing with ease. If you know how to pop off a lip this board only helps you get more boost.
Butterability: So that flex point right where the flat meets the camber is the sweet spot. You can really get your weight out over it and just lock in and swivel till your hearts content. This board is easy to press into but still has some rebound.
Jibbing: A little speed and some muscle goes a long way. This makes jibbing a bit of a breeze if you know what you’re doing, if you don’t, well learn. It’s not a jibstick but a more well balanced park board. There is snap out of any nose/tail press and it does hug a feature with the camber section being so dominate.
Carving: This board maneuvers from edge to edge with a slight precision to it. You have to be calculated with your turns and it will drive off the tail as need be. Long hard drawn out carves are solid on this board but there is a limit to how hard you can drive it. I’d say tight quick turns as well as medium carves are its strong suit.
Rider in Mind: All around park rider that will hit the mountain.
Personal Thoughts: Perhaps I’ve been a little too hard on this board in the past, or perhaps it’s finally come into its own with some serious refinement, I don’t know. What I do know is that this board didn’t suck this time when I rode it. It has a ride to it that is unique to it, you’ll notice the limitations of this deck when you push it to your limit but it doesn’t hold you back when you’re being lazy. It’s got snap, it’s got drive, and it’s playful where it counts. Evidently I have discredited this just a bit too much and need to re-evaluate this board as something I recommend more. I can admit that.
