Board: Bataleon Surfer
Camber Option: Medium camber paired with the Pow 3BT + Sidekick
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 15 Negative 12 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 195
Resort: Copper Mountain
Conditions: Overcast skies with warmer temps and humidity causing the fresh snow to be heavier.
Flex: This board has a full on directional flex meaning softer nose to a slightly stiffer tail. There’s a fair amount of torsional flex to it. Overall this board isn’t very stiff when compared to others of its nature.
Stability: This board is really lively and does not do a good job of dampening the ride. You will feel everything. Micro vibrations tend to resonate back underfoot and fatigue you.
Ollies/Pop: If you’re not flat based when you pop with this board you’ll notice it’s a big sluggish and not that abundant. But if you can spring off the tail with it perfectly flat, that’s when you’re going to boost. That swallowtail acts like a torsion fork that just gives insane pop.
Butterability: That nose shape with the Pow 3BT and Sidekick is a giant buttery spoon. You pop a 180 and put your weight over it and bam you’re going for a buttery ride anywhere you want. This board is designed for pow butters.
Carving: That sidecut does its job when you’re on a groomer, you can cut across the run and have it hold on with minimal effort. The nice thing about the mellow camber is you can push into it to drive the board even harder off the tail. Short tight quick set up turns are easy.
Rider in Mind: Pow hunter that wants a board they can spray and play on.
Personal Thoughts: Well, kind of regret not getting on this deck sooner. It does such an amazing job of slashing and riding powder. You can charge low angle or steep pow with ease and just get on that back foot and spray anyone including yourself. This board was a ripper. Only downside was that it’s a very lively board and not that damp so you feel everything with it.
