Take The Lake Contest
Who doesn’t like winning money for hucking their meat? Seems Alpine Meadows is down for a little stunt sticking contest involving some carcass chucking. Here’s the official press release of the contest.
Tahoe City, CA – Alpine Meadows Ski Resort is looking to waive the entry fee of one skier or rider who has the skills to
compete but lacks the cash to pay for his or her entry into the 2011 Take the Lake Triple Jump Line Competition – going
down March 18-20, 2011 in Lake Tahoe.
Take the Lake hosts some of the country’s top amateur and pro-am skiers and snowboarders – and this year’s competitorscan expect a triple jumpline judged by some of the industry’s most sought-after judges. A $15,000 purse is on the line; and the top finishers of both the ski and snowboard divisions will walk with the winnings.
“The competition’s triple air highlights Alpine’s jump line and there’s definitely a select group of athletes who know how to execute perfect airs in order to capture the win,” said Jonahs David, terrain park designer at Alpine Meadows. Among the judging panel include Dew Tour and Winter X Game veteran judges Shawn Carney and Tom Zikas; and former Winter X Games skiers Evan Raps and Mike LaRoche. Carney and Zikas have traveled the globe in search of the perfect air or cab 900; and Raps and LaRoche know what it takes to pull off a flawless switch nosegrab 1080.
To be considered for free entry, competitors simply have to put together a two-minute video of themselves showing off their skills in the park, then post the URL of their edit on the Take the Lake Video Contest page at SkiAlpine.com/TTLVideoContest.
Videos will be judged by a panel of skiers and riders from the Alpine Meadows Terrain Park staff as well as event organizers. Bonus points will be awarded for videos shot in Alpine Meadows’ Shreadows terrain park, as well as videos that highlight a rider’s abilities on a jump line (Take the Lake is a jump line competition after all).
Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 5 p.m. PST. Winner will be selected and notified by Friday, March 11. Prize includes one complimentary entry into the 2011 Take the Lake Triple Jump Line Competition at Alpine Meadows (a $100 value).
