So what happens when you have a big budget production coupled with a roster of amazing talent for a movie? Well generally you have the formula to create a movie that will stoke people out and make them want to snowboard. After all that’s really what we all want from a good movie, right? So here’s a look at Stance the new all girls movie that just dropped yesterday for free.
The best way I can summarize this whole movie is all filler no thriller. Have you ever watched a movie where it looks like they’re struggling for length so they slow it down and add a bunch of random cut scenes? Yeah that’s exactly how this movie is, if you jammed all the riding together at regular speed you’d have a movie that’s probably half as long. Sure the cinematography is great, but if anyone wants that with good riding throw in That’s It, That’s All!
Are there any real bangers? God no that’s the disappointing thing when you have names of this caliber associated to a project like this. The only three parts worth watching are Jenny Jones, Lisa Filzmoser, and Raewyn Reid. Other than that everything is mediocre at best. It’s a typical fish out of water story, they took a grip load of contest and groomed park girls and shoved them in the backcountry. Sure a straight air is cool and all, but seeing it from multiple angles over and over again not so much.
The biggest let down is how much hype was put on this movie, it was supposed to be all these things then it failed to deliver. The best way to describe it would be to watch this video here. A good movie stokes you out and showcases the riders, a great movie instills you with enough stoke to go out and ride more, while a bad movie makes you want to punch a baby in the face and say, “god damn snowboarding is fucking lame”. This video falls into the latter category. So ladies if you’re looking for a video that should instill you to want to shred I highly suggest checking out the girls from Peep Show. That movie has more potential to showcase the raw talent of riders and won’t have big names and a huge budget associated with them.
I’ll leave you all with the movie to make up your own mind on how good it actually is.
