Snowboarding Owes You Nothing

The idea that one definition of snowboarding could ever encapsulate every aspect of our culture, lifestyle, and sport in a nutshell is mystifying. Your definition of snowboarding is most certainly different than mine as it is to the person next to you. What is snowboarding? Well plainly it’s the act of sliding on top of snow on a plank of wood and plastic. But is that what snowboarding really is? Definitely not.

Think about all the things snowboarding has brought into your life. Relationships, friendships, travel, stories, memories, and whatever else you will have. Now ask yourself without snowboarding would you have any of those? I highly doubt anyone can say that without being involved in the shred scene those things that are a part of their life would have come to pass.

It’s with that thought of what snowboarding has given you that maybe it’s time to think to yourself that snowboarding as a lifestyle, culture, sport, social gathering, etc. doesn’t owe you anything. In the hustle and bustle of day to day life and the rat race of trying to get ahead whether in snowboarding or life it seems people are forgetting this simple fact and feeling entitled.

The quote I’ve been saying lately is, “Snowboarding owes you nothing, you owe snowboarding everything!” Pretty sure these are some words to live by that everyone should be saying to themselves and telling anyone that feels snowboarding owes them something.

I totally agree… Just thinking about the amazing friends and crazy memories snowboarding brought me..
If I didnt love snowboarding so much that I joined a snow sports club in my first year at uni all by myself because i didnt know anyone at uni, I wonder how many friends i would have now and how boring my uni life wouldve been
Getting my adventure mode on and trying snowboarding on a ski camp was hands down the BEST decision I have ever made in the entire 21 years of my life.
I thank the sport called snowboarding, myself, and my intermediate school that set up a day ski trip that eventually made me fall in love with snowboarding.
