Living in a highly digital world it only becomes easier for crews to produce online movies that become a flash in the pan for that day or a highlight for that week before slowly submerging back into the bowels of the Internet as their views dwindle. Smoke Signals from Tyme and Co. could have been one of those flicks but in an age when being a Do It Yourselfer seems to be dead these guys have produced a DVD showcasing some riders you may or may not know of heard of talents.
So who are the riders in this? Josh Bishop, Zach Rawles, Kyle Hay, Max Bigley, Jared Jordan, Dylan Alito, Austin Julik-Heine, and Friends.
Who would enjoy this movie is the first thing I had to ask myself upon peeling open the wax seal on the paper bag packaging. This video might not resonate with powder hounds, jump junkies, or people that don’t like the less refined core side of snowboarding. But for all those that wouldn’t want to watch it there are those that enjoy seeing up and comers riding rails in different locations than where the mainstream movies venture every year.
With a relatively short and quick run time you might find yourself putting this on in the early morning to get you stoked to go shred. Though what it lacks in running length it makes up for with raw tenacity. This is that less refined core side of things I previously mentioned. Seeing Austin Julik-Heine 50-50ing off a close out to 20 foot bomb drop one has to wonder how he still has knees. Or Dylan “Juggalito” Alito managing to do a double back flip out of the Breckenridge abandoned houses foundation (RIP House). There are bangers in the midst of all the usual snowboard movie fare.
At a price tag of ten dollars and free shipping in the U.S. I suggest any collector of snowboarding memorabilia look into this flick. You can pick up a copy at SmokeSignalsDVD.co. Plus inside you’ll find a voucher for some cash off of Hobo Shred Wear one of the companies sponsoring this flick.
