Snowboarding is not immune to the Hollywood-esque remake. In a time where it seems originality is dead and no one can think of a new idea or product that is original we’re now to be inundated with items from our not so distant past. Even better is that these ideas are unable to attain the funding they need from traditional sources so they look to the Internet and Kickstarter as a way to bring them to fruition.
In the next few hours a product won’t get that funding. It will then either fade off into obscurity as a never was, or someone will try their hand at getting funding from yet another source (probably a different crowd funding site). But we will remember them briefly for their lack of originality.
This campaign on Kickstarter shows that someone never did their research. For if they had the PowPouch would realize that it is a lesser version of the Bakoda Highback Pack. Even Airblaster and Neff makes such an item these days.
But yet someone in their infinite wisdom said to themselves, “I need to turn my binding into a pack mule because I can’t put anything in my fucking pockets.” Or perhaps they’re the type of person that tells you the plot to Star Wars but as if it’s an original story they thought of themselves. News Flash even Star Wars is just a mishmash of other movies collaged together to tell the story George Lucas wanted.
This ideas inception came from the creators need to carry their lunch on them, but falling on a beverage can hurts. So their idea was to just slap a tote bag on their binding. Now one would think that research might be something people would do before deciding to launch a business, what with having one of those there Google machines in their pocket. Although these sound like the type of people that are still using the old Nokia brick phone and think Snake is one of the greatest technological marvels in the world. But for all those lunches they supposedly bought at the resort, they couldn’t just stop eating 15 dollar cheeseburgers and save that cash for the paltry $5,000 they’re asking for? Logic seems lost on this one.
Is the PowPouch a good idea? No, it’s not. It’s not even an original idea and when you’re going to rip off something that actually works, you should try to improve it, but making your board your personal pack mule is not the answer. Thankfully today we know this won’t get funded due to the Internet. The world may never know the joy of their 1990’s inspired website.
