Lamar What Used and Reviewed
You see the tent for Lamar at a demo you’re more than likely going to shy away from going by and talking to the people working it or even demoing their product. Knowing that they’re trying to revamp the brands image I decided to give them a shot. The decks featured white topsheets with the tech specs. This was due to the fact that they felt their name and graphics won’t get a fair shake initially and honestly they’re probably right.
Board: Lamar What
Size: 154
Camber Option: Mac Camber which is their take on a center reverse bowing the surface of the board upwards tip to tail.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 22.5
Angles: 18 negative 15 goofy
Boots: K2 T1 DB size 10
My Weight: 165
Resort: Loveland Ski Area
Conditions: Early season man made mixed with real snow that’s been groomed to shit and has pushed mounds on the side.
Preconceived Notions: Being that the first board they gave me was solid but featured a different flex pattern and camber profile you still have to be apprehensive when trying another deck due to the nature of the brand.
Flex: Middle of the road with a bit more torsional give to it. Longitudinally it was somewhere in that happy medium of middle of the road.
Stability: When hauling it was pretty stable and absorbed chatter really well. The center reverse helped it roll over chunder mounds on the sides of runs.
Ollies/Pop: Real poppy with some solid snap out of the tips.
Butterability: Center reverse can be one of the most playful things for getting buttery on the slopes if it’s done right. This is one of those decks that allowed for it to have some fun.
Cruising: It rolled easily on to edge and held well through hard carves where the board was having more strain put on the center.
Jibbing: Much like buttering it locked into presses and was super solid throwing what few jibs Loveland had at it.
Rider in Mind: The guy that’s going to charge around the mountain hunting for pow, ripping a groomer, hitting the trees, and slaying the park.
Personal Thoughts: This actually wasn’t that bad of a ride for an all mountain freestyle deck. Evidently this is the deck Bert Lamar is riding if that means anything to anyone at this point. Over all though it’s not something super amazing and it’s not something that sits in the land of crap, it’s just another solid board that fits into the puzzle along many other decks of the same caliber from other brands.
What They Say: Confused? Don’t be. This board will slice and dice its way through any terrain without effort. Built with features that aim to please a variety of riding styles, the What? dominates on the hill.

who cares about tech if the construction is shit, did they fix that?
It’s solid otherwise it would have been mentioned that it was ass.
I am riding the Volt from Lamar right now and I can’t say anything bad about it, in fact I will say that this is the first board that I hav’nt spent my whole December paycheck on. This board does everything any of my other boards have ever done except break my bank!
