If you follow the corporate side of snowboarding and are intrigued by which companies are owned by whom then you might want to take notice that Jarden the parent company of K2 and Ride is being acquired by Newell Rubbermaid. It’s just another one of the similar business things that happens in snowboarding when you have conglomerates. Look at what is going on with Quiksilver, Billabong, and DC.
So while the shit storm of butt-hurt is going to descend from the ether of the Internet, you need to sit back and relax. There’s no reason to get caught up with jaded ex snow media types, anonymous pro-core keyboard heroes, or fucking idiots. As we reached out to numerous sources that work for the snow brands we love (or hate depending on who you talk to) it’s still business as usual.
The best way to sum it up is to just wait and see if they have any demands once everything is finalized. In my opinion though, this isn’t even a blip on the radar of snowboarding. For now though, there’s still some great products on the market from K2 and Ride and if you like them, buy them.

I hear ya… I remember when ride got bought in like 98 by k2?.. Or is that Jarden?.. N k2 could use the ride patened fork coar thing n I was pissed… But, like you said, its business as usual. The guys got shuffled, moved a bit I think, n got back to doin what they did before. The rich fund it, take profit, n buy more profitable businesses. The company itself may face harsher schedules, but hopefully have a more comfortable life…. And the life they want, which continues to produce more original concepts that ACCIDENTALLY (!) makes them more desirable to acquisition… Simple as that! Lol
