No matter how much time goes by there’s always that old school mindset that snowboarders are heathens. Snowbasin Utah is another example of this courtesy of Tim “The Toolman” Taylor and a Wade Boggs reject. Nothing like being a paying customer and being told to shut the fuck up. Watch the video and see the abuse.
Now that there’s blood in the water this was the only public statement Snowbasin issued:
We at Snowbasin Resort had an incident yesterday for which we have received much deserved criticism. We are frankly embarrassed by this situation and have taken measures to prevent this type of incident occurring in the future. Snowbasin strongly believes in treating all of our guests with respect. We strive to deserve the respect and exceed the expectations of everyone visiting our resort.
Going to be interesting to see how this pans out.

Wow. You were at Stratton too? I literally called out the fact I was moving slower than the skiers and that I was the one being reprimanded. By two “safety patrol” guys in a row. C’mon buddy, you’re not even ski patrol.

wow thats some bullshiit. the other day me and my buddy got stopped by sum grey jacket cuz we were riding on the side of the only trail to get back to cali and hittin all the side hits in complete control dodging all the gapers. at least he just told us to be careful and he knew that we were good riders in control but theres other people that aren’t. ski patrol is necessary, that guy was a fuckin asshole but mtn safety is just a fuckin joke. skiers always go by them at the slow signs way faster and they don’t say shit but if its a snowboarder they always bitch at you. of course that douche nozzle had a dirty stash haha, those guys are always the assholes lol. in the lift line today this old skier instructor was bein a dick to his kids telling them to hurry up and move up in the line lol. he too had a stash lol.
LOL Phil. Did u really LOL out loud in the lift line at that? but a double LOL in the lift line at his moustache.. I doubt that, don’t be a liar, lift lines aren’t that funny that you have to laugh beyond a chuckle under your breath twice.. LOL
What is funny is how the kids turned the table on authority. By the end, authority is apologizing profusely. I doubt it’s because they finally figured out they were being filmed. The kids did a great job of communicating what was wrong with the picture without elevating the intensity. The less than intelligent authority had no choice but to back off and apologize. The only reason snowboarders get hassled more is because of the noise. I can’t understand how not one person commenting on this video (here or other forums) has mentioned the sound carrying a much greater distance from the base of a board compared to skis. Clearly the blue coat visually engages and doesn’t like it and takes the “good cop” approach. Subliminally, skiers are affected by snowboarders through the elevated sound reverberating from the base of the board. I see it time and again, people freak out and turn, only to find the snowboarder is much further away than they thought. Of course this patroller was a moron and I don’t understand why they never hassle me. Maybe it’s because I am over 25 and don’t wear the same fashion as the younger kids. But I ride faster than most and the only time I get told to slow down is when I approach slow skiing areas. I make sure to exaggerate a few check turns while I turn my head the opposite direction of the speed cop. Even if they say something, I have already thrown the token check turn and am ignoring whatever they are saying. Nobody has ever physically stopped me on a hill. And if they treated me as this guy did, he would have had the tables turned on him even faster than these kids managed.
come on now guys cut these patrollers some slack, they probably are just a little lonely and haven’t been getting enough “Whatwhat in the butt”.

basically i think tim is no better than those douche bag fun police mtn safety for callin me out on having fun in the lift line and making fun of me for trying to exspress the stoke I have on the mountain in interweb language. fuck you tim and actually go ride your snowboard.
crazy…yeah i get yelled at occasionally from slow sign maids and ski patrol usually when im going faster than everyone in the immediate area or ride too close for comfort to some overly-anal folks. fortunately for me, i’m on the mountain not the freeway, so i’m not bound by the go with the flow of traffic rule. I do ride within my limits, and if i want to progress i usually do it with plenty of room around me. ive never collided with anyone and have only ever been the victim of outrageously out of control ids. I usually ignore obvious hails from ski patrol and just blast by(unless im doing something that warrants it), just like i do to annoying hikers when im riding my mtb.I hope this didnt fuck up your day too badly as it sucks when your having a blast and you encounter an unnecessary wall of negativity. At least that one guy had the balls to apologize, few people usually do.
