I won’t lie that I think Burton fails at understanding their costumers. Right now the Love series is stirring shit up something fierce. Look at this video from CNN, I think its hilarious.
On the Shred Betties, Kelly the editor wrote up a little article and its been generating some heat. Here’s the first paragraph of what she wrote.
While checking out Burton’s booth at the annual Snowsports Industries of America convention, we noticed something a little nakeder than usual: this year’s Love series, a collaboration with Playboy Magazine, features full-length photographs of Playboy models.

Pictures of naked women will definitely grab some attention whether they’re spread across the centerfold of a magazine or blown up on the top sheet of a snowboard.
That’s just what the folks at Burton Snowboards were hoping as they released their 2009 Coalition line of snowboards. The edgier line features a model called the “Love” that uses vintage Playboy magazine photos as the main design element.
But really is this anything new to anyone that sex can sell? Or that a graphic that causes controversy can sell a product? I remember when Sims did the Girls of Vivid Video graphic with the likes of Jenna Jameson, Brianna Banks, and others. Now at the time Sims was failing and I think the graphic was used to just help make sales on a mediocre product, maybe this is the case of the Love, I haven’t ridden it yet so I can’t really comment on how it rides.
Do you think I was in an uproar when I saw this graphic for Snake Bullet? Fuck no I thought it was funny. Graphics are art and its all in how you interpret it, let alone doesn’t anyone realize since these are vintage pics they’re probably grandma’s now!
