Day 1 of SIA recap
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009
Oh the glorious first day of the show. When I get to see all the people there for their first time with that Doe eyed look. It makes me smile knowing that they’re so lost. Was today better than any others for myself? It could possibly be as there’s a ton of good stuff and a ton of crap
It’s always a great time at the show, even for all the walking, talking, broing, and crap you have to put up with. Every year there’s new companies, old companies, crap, good stuff, and what not. This year was no exception.
Here’s the high points of the day:
- Seeing all the new K2 stuff
- Talking with old friends
- Having a few good opportunities land in my lap
- Seeing all the stoke from reps I’ve helped out
Here’s what sucked:
- False promises
- People too cool to talk to me
- People that wouldn’t let me walk away
- Crappy product
Now here’s the most priceless quote of the day. Now I’m not sure how many of you follow Johnny’s blog South of the North? But if you do you’ve probably seen him bag on Ed Hardy Snowboarding and honestly I don’t blame him. I need to go back and take a picture of the people that are working their booth as its too hilarious. They look like rejects from a 90′s boy band that now work at an Abercrombie and Fitch. With this in mind I think this quote totally suites them. I noticed their boards were made in Austria, when I asked them if it was Elan or GST they said, “Elan”. Cool so I asked them what differentiates them from all the other cookie cutter Elan boards and they responded with this little gem, “Because we’re Ed Hardy, BRO!” I’m definitely not a bro, nor do I look like one and I wasn’t this guys bro thats for sure. With him saying that it solidified to me that these boards will be sold at Kohls, Ross, and maybe if they’re lucking Sports Authority.
Now I did catch up with JMZ one of the guys helping with Yes boards. Totally cool dude who was completely down to talk to me about Yes. We exchanged cards and I saw him showing my contact info to DCP so who knows maybe that means something.
The funniest thing of the day was seeing the she hag and her daughter of one of the first shops I ever worked at. Age hasn’t been kind to either of them and they had that deer caught in headlights look. Some people never change.

still have no idea who ed hardy is… LOL…
so stoked you connected with JMZ and the YES crew…
Heh, thanks for the parting photo. Frigging random. So does this Ed Hardy guy even ride? He looks like a skier to me… if he gets out onto the slopes at all.
Didn’t know about GST, thanks for dropping that info. Always thought Elan was the big boy in Austria. Damn they build boards for some quality brands.
Ed Hardy is a lifestyle brand that makes shit with vintage tattoo style graphics. They’re a bunch of cock sockets.
Gotta love the cockmeat I left for you guys.
So something good landed in your lap? Were you at the strip club then?
HAHA No I didn’t have a cheap hooker that doesn’t give you a suck off land in my lap, YET!
Just met with some people and the ball is in motion on some stuff.
nice.. post some pictures though
Kohls…lols
