The small independent side of snowboarding is becoming a lot like surfing in the sense that there are people that are shapers and artisans making and designing boards. This time lapse from Fyra Board Studios catches how they build one of their boards from the ground up.
They describe their board building process as:
It´s four layers of birch veneer, Entropy Super Sap, Flax and triaxial fiberglass mixed together. The result is a 155 cm long board with a flat camber and a slightly tapered profile. Simple as that. Perfect for the number one trick in the book; turning!
As Signal Snowboards demonstrated in their latest Every Third Thursday videos, it is possible to build your own board at home and for relatively cheap. Taking what they showed you is possible and then blending into the above video and there’s no reason you couldn’t build a stylish board for yourself.
