Yesterday the people that needed a cause to rally against showed up at Burtons corporate offices in Burlington VT. To me it really seems like a retarded way to waste your time and energy. Woo hoo there’s some non nudies on a snowboard and another one has a mutilated hand. Turn on CNN and see what pops up its probably worse. Needless to say if they wanted a real cause to fight for it should have been this. The economy sucks, ski resort closures since the 80’s have only increased. Why add another to the list?
Anyways while these people that needed a pat on the back so they can feel they achieved something were rallying for a cause that doesn’t mean shit, the good people in Wildwood Missouri were able to save Hidden Valley Ski Resort. I’ve been keeping up with the story about this resort for some time and hoping that the resort would be saved. Ski resorts are a very valuable asset to a community, especially a community in Missouri since its not known for its snow.
Yesterday I got this email from them and was happy that the petition I signed and what press I gave on this little dark corner of the microcosm helped them.
If you haven’t heard yet, the news regarding Hidden Valley is good! Tim Boyd got a nod of approval from Wildwood to pursue a 10-year development plan that will ensure a long and healthy future for our local slopes! There is still a long road ahead, and HV will need us all to show our support again in the future as the proposal goes back to Wildwood. Thanks to everyone who has done everything in their power to show their support… this wouldn’t have happened without you.
