Omatic EXTR-TXTR BS with K2 Formulas My Take

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On March - 4 - 2010

Every year the Extr series gets a new theme. This year straight from the mouth of Todd Richards comes the Txtr version. Poking fun at things like Twitter, texting, and the general horrible decline of the American youth. This board also features the B.S. Technology that was offered last season. What Have The Olympics Done For Us?

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On February - 17 - 2010

We don’t need the Olympics! I’m talking the collective we as a culture, the one that has let the riders drive the companies, trends, and progression. We were the ones that hiked up golf courses before ski resorts let us, we were the ones that tinkered in our garages, we were the ones that were too busy having fun instead of being judged by an international committee. Omatic Extr-Eco Wiggle Stick Round Two

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On February - 7 - 2010

While at SIA Tanya from Omatic hooked me up with this years deck so I could get in a few laps on it the Sunday before On Snow to compare the current B.S. Technology to next years. There’s some very obvious differences between the current generation and next years. But even with a few solid days riding this around the review pretty much remains the exact same. Their Take: Omatic Snowboards

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On June - 16 - 2009

Omatic is one of those creative and fun little brands that has had an ever growing presence in the snowboard world. With that emphasis on fun they’ve bred some of the funnier graphics as of late. Tanya Otero from them answered a few questions for us on the economy, making snowboarding more accessible, and crapapolooza. Check it out. Read the rest of this entry »

Battle of the Base Technologies: TBT vs BST

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On June - 13 - 2009

Here’s two little companies Bataleon and Omatic, both doing their own thing, and both with their own technologies. Some might say they’re similar, some might say that one is ripping the other off, but truth is both are very different. So where do these two technologies stand when matched up in a battle? Does one outweigh the other in being the better? Here’s a breakdown of the differences between Triple Base Technology and Bowed Surface Technology. Read the rest of this entry »

Tara Dakides and Anne-Flore on Rome

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On April - 1 - 2009

Here you have two women that absolutely kill it on snowboards. One who could arguably be the most influential women in snowboarding of all time. The other is one who constantly pushes beauty and brawn with a powerful style. I nearly shit myself when I saw that these two had signed with Rome. Check out this press release their women’s team is going to be unstoppable.

Waterbury VT – Rome Snowboard Design Syndicate is pleased to announce the signing of Tara Dakides and Anne-Flore Marxer to their women’s pro team. They’ll be joining the ranks of Marie France-Roy and Silvia Mittermueller and rounding out one of the most progressive women’s teams in the world.

“Tara is a woman of larger than life stature and we’re glad to welcome her aboard the team,” says Team Manager John Cavan,”and Anne Flore has been in the snowboarding spotlight for the last few seasons with her amazing style. It was a no brainer for us to add these two to the team, we expect big things!”

After leaving Omatic Snowboards this past fall Tara has been a free agent in a sea of welcoming companies. When a deal fell through with Flow Snowboards, Rome was there to put an offer on the table. Without hesitation Tara signed the contract and can now be seen rocking the LoFi 1985 for jibbing, the Vinyl for all around freestyle use, and for bindings the Strut. Tara had this to say, “With my image and my riding style Rome is a brand that fits my needs and I fit it’s image, I should have considered them sooner.”

With the debacle at Burton Snowboards this past fall Anne-Flore along with many other talented riders were left sponsorless. While she initially took the time to ride for her other sponsors Rome was always there considering her. Once Tara had signed it was easy to persuade the talented rider to join her Billabong team mate. “I love that Rome has something for every rider and they really fit my carefree fun loving attitude,” said Anne-Flore. Anne’s board of choice for backcountry and hard charging is the Blue, for her park domination she will be on the Vinyl. Gracing the presence of her feet will be the Memphis boot and Madison binding.

About Rome SDS – Founded in 2001, blah, the Rome Snowboard Design Syndicate, blah, blah, is the only impure snowboard company blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…

This seriously means they have one of the most insane women’s teams on earth. It’s going to be video domination for them with MFR, Silvia, Tara, AFM, and the other Marie. Shit’s going to be hot.

Omatic Extr-Eco Wiggle Stick with K2 Formulas

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On March - 31 - 2009

Right before SIA I had the Omatic catalog land in my lap. This was the one stick that stood out to me as something unique, but not just because it is reverse camber. The idea of the B.S. (bowed surface) technology really made me question whether or not it was like the Bataleon TBT. When I got to Vegas and talked with the man behind it Jason Kanes and got to feel it out, I realized how different it is. Here’s my take on how it rode. Read the rest of this entry »
