The Death of Sierra Snowboard and Its Repercussions

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On September - 6 - 2010

As many people have known I’ve followed what has been going on with Sierra Snowboards in regards to the snowboard industry, its business practices, and how this was all going to pan out. Initially it started with Burton Snowboards along with a few others pulling out from them, then it lead to rumors of imminent chapter 11 status as a way to cock block Burton from getting paid up front for their product, and now most recently some new developments have arisen in the form of Michael Horrosh the owner filing a motion to move the bankruptcy from chapter 11 bankruptcy (reorganization) to chapter 7 (liquidation). Sunday Cinema: For Right Or Wrong

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On September - 5 - 2010

Ah the Burton team what can you say about the? Well anything you want I guess seeing as they have just about every type of rider known to man going for them. Anyways here’s a look back at a time before Yes Snowboards when they had some sick ass big mountain freestylers. A time with Shaun White wasn’t turning into the next Mark “Gator” Ragowski. And a time when Burton was still probably pissing someone off. Read the rest of this entry »

Better Late Than Never Burton

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On August - 9 - 2010

Burton is one of those brands that causes a huge emotional response from both young and old. It doesn’t matter what generation of rider you’re from because at some point something from Burton has influenced you whether it was gear, a rider, or a shop. Over the last ten years what Burton has been doing has been highly questionable. Established pro riders getting the boot, direct sales replacing the core shops, higher minimum buys, and the list goes on and on. Now the original captain of their mighty vessel has reclaimed the wheel and is trying to set things right. Read the rest of this entry »

Burton Joystick with Customs A Better Look

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On July - 9 - 2010

It had been a long time since Burton really made a deck that to me was something I could see myself riding it daily. The Joystick was that board, but like anything in this world shit gets changed. For 2011 they added a center scoop to this board and that changed how it rode. For some this might be what they’re looking for and for others they might find that tweak too much. Either way here is how it rode for myself. Read the rest of this entry »

Sierra Snowboard Bankrupt?

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On June - 9 - 2010

It’s been a few months since the hell fires of Sierra Snowboard Vs Burton made waves across the internet fueling the much heated debate about who was in the right and who was in the wrong. Some sided with Burton others with Sierra, but one thing was certain when this all went down that there would be repercussions down the road. Now much like the original rumors spun by the crew from Sierra Snowboard there’s a whole new slew of ones popping up only this time it’s not from their end. Read the rest of this entry »

Burton Easy Livin with Cartels My Take

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On June - 7 - 2010

The Easy Livin is essentially the next generation of UnInc with Danny Davis at the helm giving the feedback on how this board should ride. Following suit in what seems to be the trend in alternate camber is Burtons Flying V which utilizes both camber and rocker. Here’s what I thought of the deck after I took it for a spin at Breck. Burton Whammy Bar with Malavita EST’s My Impressions

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On May - 24 - 2010

New for this season is the Whammy Bar, evidently it’s a board you can lay down some heavy hammers while striking some rails. This board boasts the new Mid Spoon along with the Scooped tip and tail. Here’s my take on how Burtons jib axe worked for me. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s spring outside flowers are in bloom, the bull-wheels have stopped turning for most places in the northern hemisphere and chances are you’re season is over. Who’s Right and Who’s Wrong: Sierra Snowboards Vs. Burton Snowboards

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On March - 10 - 2010

If there’s one thing the newest generation of people that are getting interested in snowboarding doesn’t know it’s MSRP. Yeah, yeah, say what you want about price gouging and all that fun stuff. But the truth is, the newest generation have grown up with online mega warehouses severely discounting products. Add to that rampant over production and the ability to shop online from your cell phone you have a recipe for ultimate destruction. Read the rest of this entry »

What Have The Olympics Done For Us?

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On February - 17 - 2010

We don’t need the Olympics! I’m talking the collective we as a culture, the one that has let the riders drive the companies, trends, and progression. We were the ones that hiked up golf courses before ski resorts let us, we were the ones that tinkered in our garages, we were the ones that were too busy having fun instead of being judged by an international committee.
