Omatic Celebrity BS with K2 Formulas My Take

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On March - 15 - 2010

If I was famous I’d be a celebrity, but I’m not famous well maybe only on the internet. Anyways this board could make you famous if you stomped some tricks. But I will say this it was one of the most easily to initiate pipe decks I’ve ever been on.

Board: Omatic Celebrity

Size: 155

Camber Option: B.S Technology beveled up base at the sides with a slight 3 stage rocker with a long flat zone between the rise in the tips.

Bindings: K2 Formulas

Stance: 22.5

Angles: 18 negative 15

Boots: K2 T1 DB

My Weight: 165

Resort: Winter Park

Conditions: Flat light, cold, and pretty much as pure of shit as you can imagine.

Preconceived Notions: Louie shreds pipe and B.S. Technology really lets you get over on edge this could be a fun deck in the pipe and the last time I rode a Celebrity it was a solid deck.

Flex: Little softer than the Extr – Txtr making it a bit more playful in the tips and between the feet, but still not noodley soft.

Stability: Super solid around the mountain and in the park.

Ollies/Pop: Felt this board had better boost than the Extr – Txtr making it a more fun board for throwing ground ollies and spins.

Butterability: Bend the shit out of this board and know you’re going to manipulate it how you see fit.

Cruising: You can roll it over on edge with ease and lay a nice trench once you do. The edge hold on this thing was solid and when I took it in the pipe it gripped the walls pretty well seeing as they were haggard sheet ice.

Jibbing: Just like buttering this board was super solid.

Rider in Mind: Louie Vito, or someone that wants a fun park deck that’s going to give them the performance they seek and not be so stiff it negates all the good properties.

Personal Thoughts: Liked this board way more than the Extr – Txtr it killed it around the mountain and especially in the park. This board will be a killer next year.

What They Say: The Celebrith isn’t just a prop in the new reality-TV hit Louie’s Life, it’s the high-performance ride that puts Mr. Vito on the contest podium. after a summer spent dashing around on a dancefloor and dodging paparazzi, Louie hit the halfpipe and started mopping up the competiton. For this task, Vito needs a board that blends flexibility and edge-ability. A board that delivers total control and Louie’s new Celebrity is it. This board is a showstopper. The true twin shape features DuablBEAM carbon/kevlar laminates for high-load pop while the tri-radial sidecut makes it turn like a racecar. Stability is key in that giant 22-foot pipe so Triaxial glass is Louie’s answer. Speed is also crucial–so, yes, it’s got a sintered gase. If you’re ready to step into the limelight, get on the new Celebrity, the next 15 minutes of fame could be yours. Just make sure someone is filming.

Binding Compatibility: Well matching up 4 holes with 4 screws isn’t that hard I think a trained monkey could do it.

Binding Adjustability: Had these dialed form before but the on the fly adjustments are real nice.

Straps: Little too fat and plush to be as solid as the old Formula, also felt it hindered the responsiveness.

Highbacks: Were really annoying being stiffer and higher.

Binding Flex: Stiffer than the old Formula.

Ratchets: Smooth as butter.

Rider in Mind: Someone that likes to push it a bit more and needs a higher high back for when they lay those deep heelside turns.

Personal Thoughts: Just not feeling this binding it took a tried and true favorite and made it only the same in name. Although the heel straps with the hinge are the greatest feature known to man.

What They Say: Your skills are advancing exponentially. You need equipment that is as equally capable and the Formula is ready. With NEW canted footbeds and ROCKLOCK Highbacks, this tried-and-true specimen offers a performance-centric flex that is ready to take your riding to new heights. Pro-Fusion Chasis hosts the multi-position Custom Caddy ankle strap, offering more freedom than ever… and you thought we couldn’t make it better.
