Demo Days

Posted by Angrysnowboarder On November - 18 - 2009

It’s that time of the year again when the days start getting shorter and the nights grow cold and long. With this turn of the season marks one of the first demo days of the year for shop people at Loveland Ski Area. Here’s a brief recap of what I was able to hop on after day 1.First board of the day was the Nitro Team (gullwing) with some Raiden Blackhawks everything I disliked about the Subpop was vanished with this deck. Super solid all mountain freestyle choice totally stoked on this. Followed it up with a jaunt over to Forum and tried out the Shakas on the Destroyer, Youngblood, and Scallywag all with Chilli Dog Rocker. Talk about a loose feeling rocker and wtf does the Shaka even do besides have too many moving parts? Anyone?

Hit up ride and hopped on the Crush with NRC’s totally canted out at 5 degrees. Not the best board to binding combo but I’ll take what can fit my hoof. Back to the Big B umbrella to try out the Easy Living flying V with cartel EST’s and Custom flying v with Infidel non EST. Easy Living was absolutely fucking sick, cartels can still blow me, infidels were heavy, and the custom is a pile of shit plank. After those tried out the Rossi Angus with Cuda’s what a heavy plank that has the most wacked out reverse camber and flex pattern ever. Also the bindings can blow me. After that tried out the Capita Ultrafear FK with Contacts and the Horrorscope with Forces. People can argue with me but I was folding the Ultrafear in half on every butter while the Horrorscope was a more damp and stable ride.

If you have any requests for day 2 get them in now cause I’m out the door at 8 a.m. to go for round 2. As always these are my take on things and like I always say check around for other reviews and crap to see what’s going on.

They still need some tweaks to make them on par with others but they weren’t as bad as they’ve been in previous years. All I’m going to say dude is Team Gullwing is FUCKING SICK. New favorite board in the Nitro line!

Hey, if you get a chance check out the Flux Titan RK’s.
I just bought them this year and im really interested on how they feel on the Mtn. The polyurethane high back seems to have good flex tip to tale for ultimate tweekage and heel side edge the highback seems to be just about as strong at the regular titan. Im an east coast instructor, first time flux consumer (ive ridden cartels consistently), and im curious to hear a real review on them.

I’ll see what I can do and if the rep has those in my size. The flux guys always have weird size runs in stuff.

you got me peeing in my pants from excitement now. i know ur not a union fan (i don’t know what the big deal is either). but, i would consider getting rides just for the cants, so, what’s your quick take on the nrc’s – does the canted base do its job? how about build quality?

would like to see your opinions on the omatic sweet, salomon official or NS sl-r. Probably not just lying around but I thought I’d through them out there.

I’d be interested in a survey of edge types and their pros/cons. Mervin’s MTX vs Straight side-cut vs vario-power-grip vs Burton’s implementation. It would make a good complement to your article on camber.

Personally I’m interested in Never Summer’s latest Premier F1-R, if you get an opportunity to try that out for a full demo.

Neil there’s reviews of all those boards somewhere on the site. I’m not riding anything regular camber anymore just not worth it to me.

Jonesy I’ll definitely toss up a post on the various sidecuts and stuff since you brought it to my attention. There’s a review of the premier f1-r up on the site.

Sweet news on the team gullwing, I’m trying to get my warranty replaced with a team gullwing ‘59.
    What size did you ride?

  11. hanzosteel Said,

just curious, did you ride the gullwing at the recommended set-back or centered or what? it could make a difference in the way the board performs because your feet would be placed differently over each cambered section – correct?

  12. Trevor Said,

I know you commented on the stability of the horrorscope fk, but besides that how was the ride? Looking at the sierrascope fk due to the sale price, but hear I hear it is basically a horrorscope with better materials.

  13. Angrysnowboarder Said,

Eh fuck Sierra. Anyways the Sierrascope is the exact same thing as the Indoor Survival if you look at the tech specs comparing the two. Haven’t ridden the Indoor but I did ride the Green Machine which I believe is their “green” version of the Indoor. I felt it was too soft for it’s own good which seems to be the thing that Capita is doing with their more park focused decks. It’s your money so it’s your call.
