360 Degrees of Knee Breaking Mockery
The saying that necessity is the mother of invention exists for a reason, which is pretty obvious, necessity creates innovation which in turn drives progression. So why is it that people who create bad ideas are so short sighted they can’t do their due diligence to research their “innovative” project that they believe is a progressive necessity?
Making the arduous trek through the seventh level of bad idea hell there was one similar contraption that kept jumping out at me, it is one we have mocked many times before. But like a bad case of herpes that never goes into remission it just keeps coming back. This idea is the rotational binding plate. We saw it with Skating Made Easy, followed it up with the sequel Angle Adjustment On The Fly, and finalized it in a true trilogy with Twist These Bindings. Like a great action movie franchise a trilogy just isn’t enough to finish off the story, so Yippie Ki Yay Mother Fucker here we go again!
Enter Quick Stance:
Look familiar? Why, no it couldn’t be, but yes it’s the mutated bastard offspring of The Swivler!
Which was ripped off by Board Hubz.
And mimicked by Twisted Bindings.
Notice any similarities here? Guess we can say originality is officially dead! But guess what? These aren’t the only ones going for highly new revolutionary binding rotation technology. Nope enter the Spanish Rotary Ah binding.
At least they went for a full blown binding. Oh but wait, the concept was done a few years ago. It was called the X Turn and never made it to functional prototype.
The reason snowboard bindings work is because they’re simple. The less moving parts the better as it drastically reduces the margin of error and potential for injury.
These people complain about skating or the chairlift. News flash the reason you’re getting discomfort on the chairlift is because they’re designed for a skier who sits facing forward much like how they go down hill. We slide sideways, huge difference. The real culprit here is the fucking comfort bar as it’s not designed for us. As far as skating goes what happens when you push off and go to glide, you’re now locked in a forward position. So what do you do? Hang ten? There’s a reason we push off with the front foot locked sideways, when we’re not pushing this is how we naturally ride. Oh damn me for using a logical answer.
It’s funny how the latest version Quick Stance claims you can invent new tricks? What new tricks are you talking about these?
Yep that is Jeremy Jones (jibber) doing pop shuvits on a snowboard. Willie Yli-Luoma did it before him. What are you going to do add a double cork to it in the air? Because that would be the only way you could conceivably go to invent new tricks.
All of these are examples of solutions to non-problems. What’s worse is that no one seems to be realizing it’s all been done to death at this point and continue to flog a dead horse.
The real question remains would you drop 100 plus dollars on any of these?
