Board: Sims Juice
Camber Option: Micro traditional camber.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 177lbs
Resort: Arapahoe Basin
Conditions: Sun, clouds, snow, more clouds, blowing wind, a few inches of fresh snow on top of chunder, and heavy sticky snow in spots.
Flex: A middle of the road park flex. The tips were abundantly playful while it was stiffer under foot and then more playful in the middle. There was a lot of torsional give as well which added to the playful nature of this board.
Stability: While not the most stable when plowing into chunder and frozen death cookies at high speed it got the job done. I noticed that the nose would fold a bit in really rutted out terrain.
Ollies: This board has a lot of snap. I mean a lot! I found myself sending small side hits twice as high and twice as far when blasting off them. Having the mellow camber makes it easy to load up and pop off anything.
Pop On Jumps: This board is at home on jumps and it knows it. If you want to blast hard, blast hard, if you want the lip to throw you, let it throw you. Over all it’s a board with a lot of snap designed to hit jumps.
Butterability: There is an immense sweet spot in the tip and the tail which locks in perfectly for butters. If you really want to ride a butter out just keep your weight balanced and the board won’t fight you.
Jibbing: Much like jibbing this board can hit a rail or two with ease. The tips have a great sweet spot for locking into presses while the traditional camber profile hugs rails as you slide sideways.
Carving: Quick edge to edge turn initiation makes this board super playful and fun. It charges with ease through a carve and doesn’t buckle. What’s nice though is the abundance of torsional flex really lets you drive the board through a hard carve.
Rider in Mind: Someone that wants a lot of snap for boosting and a lot of flex in the tips for pressing.
Personal Thoughts: This board blew me away with how versatile it was. It locked in well for presses and had the snap you would want for ollieing over everything in your path. What’s nice is that it wasn’t hindered by the varying terrain I took it in.
