Board: Lib Tech Hot Knife
Camber Option: C3. Camber under foot with a mellow reverse camber between the feet.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 188lbs
Resort: Arapahoe Basin
Conditions: Warm temps, chunder/mashed potato snow, high winds, and sunny bluebird skies.
Flex: To say this board is on the stiffer side is a bit of an understatement, but it is a high end freestyle board. There is just a hair of softer flex in the tip and tail and then a mid section that is stiffer. The torsional flex is almost non-existent.
Stability: If you ever wanted to run over an Elk and think it was a garden hose, here you go. Charge into a chunder field and just watch this board eviscerate it. Chatter? What’s that? This board is damp and yet lively.
Ollies: While you will have to seriously load this board up to get pop, that’s not a bad thing. This board is meant for going fast and popping hard. So load it up and prepare to go higher than you thought possible.
Pop On Jumps: Small, medium, large, or extra large? What’s your preference because this board has what it will take to launch off anything in its path with ease, just go fast.
Butterability: Almost non-existent. That’s the only way I can describe buttering on this deck. If you wanted to have your hip feel like it’s being ripped out of the socket as you press a board, then there you go.
Jibbing: High speed jibbing is the ticket with this deck. It will lock into a press if you put all your weight into it and then some. The C3 profile helps you lock into a slide, but that’s where it ends. This board is a beast.
Carving: Want to talk about laying trenches? Well rip it hard on this board. The Magne-Traction grips where you need it but doesn’t overwhelm the overall sidecut of this board. It can rip a quick tight turn or a long drawn out carve. You can make your choice with this deck. If you’re one of those guys that at the last minute drives your back leg in to change the arc of the carve, then this board won’t disappoint you. Want to get as low as you can go? Do it! This board doesn’t care.
Rider in Mind: The high end all mountain freestyle rider that wants a stiffer deck with camber dominance.
Personal Thoughts: HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. This baord is aggressive, dominant, and FUN! You can rip a hard turn, pop a roller and launch, while still slaying the park. This is a force to be reckoned with and for those old timers that say they don’t make a board for them, shut the fuck up and give LIb Tech your money. This is the deck for you guys. Possibly one of the snappiest Mervin decks I have been on and one of the most aggressive.
