2018 Flow Drifter Snowboard Review

By Kevin Hub · On April 4, 2018

Board: Flow Drifter

Size: 159

Camber Option: I-Rock. Rocker between the feet, camber under foot, with a micro flat zone right at the contact points.

Bindings: Flux DS

Stance: 21 Wide 12 Negative 9 Goofy

Boots: DC Lynx 8.5

My Weight: 155lbs

Resort: A-Basin

Conditions: Early morning late season dump. Getting after it early and deep.

Flex: Right in the sweet middle zone of an all mountain deck. Just stiff enough to handle variable terrain but still just soft enough to remain a little playful.

Stability: Solid flex with carbon running tip to tail on either side of the insert pack and urethane dampening tech thrown in just about everywhere. They can build the deck to be livelier and allow the urethane to handle all the chatter and speed buzz. It provides an awesome no compromise ride.

Ollies/Pop: The snap comes from the whole deck. It’s not a boost to the moon deck, but snaps off a pillow great and is the type of pop that you’ll never have to think about.

Butterability: Deep snow butters happen swell and are pretty easy to lay into. Out on the firmer stuff it takes a little more effort, but it is still a rockered deck. Throw your weight over the tips and twist it up.

Carving: The sidecuts on Flow decks are some of the most versatile I’ve ridden. Lay it over and drive your back knee in and you can lay a trench with ease. Snap some small turns, lay it out on your back foot, whatever you want. Through deep snow it floats well and turns great. The nose doesn’t have any sort of special shaping but the rocker profile is laid out well to keep the nose up and out.

Rider in Mind: The true all mountain rider that may have a pinch of freeride thrown into the mix.

Check out the past reviews of the 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017 Drifter.

Personal Thoughts: Really an awesome deck for just about anybody. It’s super accessible and rides well through a lot of varying conditions.
