Board: Capita Navigator
Size: 158
Camber Option: Powder Profile. Rocker in the nose then flat from the middle of the tip back to the tail.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 188lbs
Resort: Arapahoe Basin
Conditions: Puking snow, moderate visibility, about half a foot of fresh snow, and colder temps.
Flex: With a reverse directional flex you get a stiffer nose to a softer tail. There’s an OK amount of torsional give which lets you center flex the board through a banked turn or long carve.
Stability: The way this board is designed it absorbs chatter in the tail and through the feet. What you will notice is that with the stiffer nose if you get into really rutted out firm terrain like frozen moguls or chunder bumps you’ll get bucked around as the board doesn’t absorb them.
Ollies/Pop: With the way the camber profile is it rolls up on its tail and snaps effortlessly. You’ll notice this more in softer snow as the tail sinks in and engages the flex point to pop. It’s a board designed for hauling ass and popping off natural features.
Butterability: You have to aggressively press into the nose when you do a 180 and I found that the deeper the snow the easier it was to engage this.
Carving: When on firmer snow or cutting across a cat track or run to get to the goods this board rolls up on edge with minimal effort. I did note that when aggressively center flexing the board and trying to do a tight carve it would hit a point where it wouldn’t allow me to go any deeper. I found that long drawn out carves were the best on it. I will say in tight trees where you’re riding the terrain like a banked slalom this board was amazing.
Rider in Mind: Powder hound that likes to charge.
Personal Thoughts: I liked the point of the tip on this board as it helps aid the overall shape of the board by funneling the snow off the board and letting it plane better in powder. The flex is aggressive and for some they might not like it but I felt it helped this board in wide open bowls to charge through the hidden chunder underneath the fresh snow. Overall it wouldn’t be a daily driver board, but it would be solid for those that are chasing pow.

10.5 boots with rome arsenal L/XL bindings should I go with the 158 or 161? thats 256 waist width vs 260…. weight is 185ish…
61 for heavier snow and more wide open, 58 for softer more dry snow and tight trees.
151 or 155 for a 18 year old, 60kg, 177cm dude? Design pushes me to the 155…
55 will give you more float and if you’re riding open pow that’s the way to go, if you’re in the trees then the 51.
197 kg 6.4 spendinga full season in niseko. Want and all mountain / powder board but also sonwthibg i can take on the park. Would you reccomend this? Or something else?
You’re going to want 2 boards.
Hi Angry,
This upcoming season will be my fourth, and I’m looking for my very first Freeride board. I ride the groomers well I believe, but would still consider myself an intermediate rider. I was looking at the Capita Navigator as board I could ride pow and trees well with, as well as charge over the whole mountain. I know there’s been changes to the camber profile and design since this board was last reviewed, but do you think this would be a good pick? This would be to go along my my Rome Agent I use as my daily driver. Do you have any other suggestions? I was considering the Rome Ravine as well.
Thanks
Snag the new one should be great for what you’re describing.
