Conditions: Warmer late season snow conditions persisted. While it was good it was heavy.

Flex: Just a bit stiffer than middle of the road for an all mountain deck with a little bit more give in the tips.

Stability: Just enough stiffness and dampness to keep everything comfortable and under control. Plows through anything you really need or expect it to.

Ollies: Turborods are awesome. So much snap for so little effort. Probably one of the most poppy rocker/camber decks I’ve been on. Skate snap it or load and boost, whatever you want it will deliver.

Pop On Jumps: Pretty dang good snap off the lips jumps. The tips have just enough torsional give to let you get into the deck before you it initiates the snap.

Butterability: Keep it a little mellower and it’s got all the spread you’d ask for. The carbon in the tips provides a great platform to press into and snap with to spin around with. Really fun. Just don’t press into the Turborods too early or it may buck you out.

Jibbing: The Turborods provide a decent sweet spot to lock into just before you really engage them. If you do try and over press it, you really have to have some leg strength to keep everything in check and not get bounced out. It still pushes through kinks great and does lock into boardslides pretty well. Not your gypsy’s jibstick, but your ride-everywhere-park-deck kind of jib board.

Carving: I found it to be a pretty fun carving deck as well. You just get such good snap out of the tips you can just boost out of turns. It’s still rocker camber so if you really push it on super hard/firm conditions it can get choppy and break loose, but that’s being a bit nit picky. In anything softer it crushed it.

Rider in Mind: All mountain freestyle guy getting after it. A true peak to park rider.

Personal Thoughts: I’ve found the last few years of the Agent to be more geared towards like all mountain charger and almost like freeride. They slightly softened up the tips this year. It really didn’t feel like it lost any stability but just gained a bit of forgiveness and ease. Rome succeeded here in making a good board better.

Hi – how would you rate this against a 2016 Gnu Riders Choice? Profile seems similar (more like C3) but sounds poppier.
Enjoying the Gnu but feels a bit dead.

The dead feel you’re getting is the gallon of epoxy in the Riders Choice. It’s an American made deck which uses dated construction methods. The Rome will be more lively.

I’m looking for an an aggressive all mountain that’ll plough through everything. I like boosting off of side hits, jumps and a park lap every now and then. I’m tossing between this and a DC Mega, thoughts?

It’s not a 100% pow board but it can definitely handle riding pow.

Ok so looking to upgrade my Rome agent rocker which I’ve loved riding. Responsive, feels light and playful and has been great. Riding All mountain. Cross rocket, reverb rocker(although shit graphics) sawtooth or mountain division.

None of those. The closest you’re probably going to find will either be the new Marshal or go with a Gangplank.

So here’s what I was thinking with the Fastplant purchase. A cross between the national and the gangplank, in that it would be soft on the nose and tail similar to the gangplank but stiffer through the middle of the board like the national, maybe not quite as stiff as the national but stiffer than the gangplank. Can you please comment on this? Secondly I was thinking at adding a more aggressive all mountain board to my quiver, so I was looking at maybe the cross rocket? Appreciate your comment. Cheers.

The Cross Rocket fucking sucks!!!! One of the worst boards I’ve ever ridden. Fastplant is stiffer than the GangPlank but definitely not as stiff torsionally or overall as the National.

Awesome thanks. So what would you recommend as the stiffer aggressive charger for all mountain?

          • Angrysnowboarder says: February 4, 2018 at 8:53 am

If you’re doing Rome either the Blur or the Sawtooth.

Hey, you do a great job on the reviews. I have a 2015 agent rocker. I really like the stability and pop. Edge hold is good to. I just wish it was a bit better in choppy situations carving and it could be better when buttering. Im on the east coast. Mostly charging down the mountain, not a ton of powder, some jumps and a lot of flat land stuff. Im probably going to grab a board at the end of the season, but Rome doesn’t make this anymore. Wtf. Do you have any recommendations? I know you arent into thr NS stuff. The riders choice? Thank you.

If you’re doing Rome you would go with the National or Marshal to fill the void of the Agent Rocker. There are so many boards that could fill that void right now.

Thanks for the reply. I think i really like the national, but im not sure about switching back to a (basically) full camber. Do you have an opinion on the National vs something like the riders choice.

National will be more lively and a better rider. R.C. is just kind of meh.

Found one of these for a good deal but was a rental board previously. So that or spend a little more on a high society Bonzai with 1 owner?
