Board: Niche Story
Camber Option: Multi-Camber. Reverse camber between the feet with camber under foot to the contact points.
Bindings: K2 Indy
Stance: 21.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 177lbs
Resort: Arapahoe Basin
Conditions: Sunny bluebird skies, cold brisk temps, a bit of wind, and the snow was fast and firm.
Flex: This board is just past a middle of the road stiffness which makes it more ideal for hard charging than playing around. The torsional give is abundant enough to let you twist flex the board to drive the edges in as needed.
Stability: The stability of this board mirrored its performance. By that it was great at not getting bucked around in uneven terrain and absorbed the more present chatter while still being lively.
Ollies: Load up the camber zone and boost. This board had snap out of the tip and tail which made it great for popping off side hits or ollieing off a roller.
Pop On Jumps: Whether small, medium, or large this jump is going to be perfectly at home on a jump line.
Butterability: The tips are actually playful and really let you press into them, but have good rebound to snap you back out. Over all if you want to butter it will let you with minimal work.
Jibbing: The tips are great for locking into presses and the board slides sideways with ease. Which is somewhat surprising for a board that seems more suited for charging hard.
Carving: Here’s where this board shines. The sidecut with the Magnetraction really digs in and grips. When you center flex the board to slingshot you out of a carve it really snaps. Laying trenches is where this board is at home.
Rider in Mind: The guy that’s doing it all and wants to have a playful lively board that can handle what he throws at it.
Personal Thoughts: New factory, same Story. This board does not disappoint with wanting to go fast and make turns or jump off features. While it won’t be for everyone it’s a great option from a company that’s really pushing a green initiative.
