Ride the tiger. You can see his stripes but you know he’s clean! Oh don’t you see what I mean? The board with the graphic that everyone will have an opinion over. It’s every teen boys fantasy and every mans humor rolled into one. Salomon out did themselves with the graphic story this year.
Board: Salomon Mans Board
Camber Option: Cross Profile. Camber between the feet and rocker in the tips.
Bindings: K2 Formula
Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 175lbs
Conditions: Heavy wet snow falling, low visibility, about 4 inches of snow on top of the most crusty icy snow.
Flex: Stiff. There’s a reason they call this the Mans Board. There isn’t much give in it, just a minimal amount in the tips and laterally.
Stability: This board is highly stable at speeds over varying terrain. The flex of this board doesn’t make it give.
Ollies: This is a board you have to really load the tips up to get the pop you want out of them. Once you do though, be prepared to go to the moon.
Pop On Jumps: This board is more suited for bigger jumps than the smaller ones due to the flex pattern and the way it rides, but it can absorb a tranny like no other and go off a lip.
Butterability: Be prepared to work extra hard to get up on the tips and play around. The flex pattern really makes you work for it.
Jibbing: Unless you’re coming in as fast as possible and riding a rail like a slopestyle course or pulling some Bode Merrill type big gap stuff this board is a pain in the ass to press on features. You have to work twice as hard as you think to get the optimal desired effect.
Carving: Rip it and grip it. This board is great at hard fast carves. You can get it on edge and just know it’s going to hold in. Tight quick turns are a breeze as long as you’re prepared to push it on them.
Rider in Mind: Bode Merrill or someone that has tree trunks for legs and wants a stiff board that feel like traditional camber.
Personal Thoughts: I stick to the belief that this board isn’t for everyone and that the Time Machine would be a better option. This board is just overly stiff and aggressive. This makes it one you have to be on point for to get the desired effects.
