If you don’t know who Chris Grenier or Jed Anderson are you should probably become familiar with those two as this is their snowboard of choice. The Salomonder is a jib weapon designed for pure urban destruction and rail park domination. Here is how the 2014 model stacked up.
Camber Option: Super Flat. Neither reverse nor positive it is just there like a board.
Bindings: Rome 390 Boss
Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy
Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10
My Weight: 175lbs
Conditions: Spring mix of clouds, sun, more clouds, snow, winds, more clouds, and then more snow. The snow was exceptionally fast and firm.
Flex: Real soft. There is nothing to make this board stiff in any regard. It’s just soft from tip to tail and even torsionally.
Stability: Throw that idea out the window there is nothing to protect you from contours in the snow.
Ollies: For a board this soft it does have snap which is nice. Playing around on snow you can just pop out of anything.
Pop On Jumps: I wouldn’t hit anything over the 35 foot range with it but there is enough snap to get some pop off a lip.
Butterability: Blunted shape and a complete lack of camber or flex, you know it’s game on for spreading some margarine based love all over the muffin. Just get up on the tips and play around.
Jibbing: This is what this board is made for. The sweet spot is immense and just locks into any rail or box in your path. Do not hesitate to get radical in the stunt park pretending to be a skateboarder.
Carving: While the flex is super soft and not the best for locking into carves the sidecut does grip. You can rail a turn with this board if you know what you’re doing even if it’s not meant for it.
Rider in Mind: Well probably Chris Grenier since his name is on it or someone of similar jib status.
Personal Thoughts: This board never disappoints in what it is, a true rail destroying machine. Three years and every year it’s the same consistently awesome jib deck that you can rail around the park and have fun on.
