2014 K2 World Wide Weapon Snowboard Used and Reviewed

By Angrysnowboarder @angrysnowboard · On June 6, 2013

The World Wide Weapon is one of those staple jib boards that has been in the K2 lineup for what seems like an eternity. Sure it’s gone through some revisions over the years, but does it still have what it takes to press a rail and slide a box? Find out how it stacks up in this review.

2014 K2 World Wide Weapon Topsheet

Board: K2 WWW (World Wide Weapon)

Size: 154

Camber Option: Freestyle Baseline. The new name for the park oriented rocker that K2 is offering. So flat between the feet and out towards the tips it rockers up.

Bindings: Rome 390 Boss

Stance: 22.5 Wide 18 Negative 15 Goofy

Boots: K2 Thraxis Size 10

My Weight: 175lbs

Resort: Arapahoe Basin

Conditions: Sunny blue skies with some clouds and that warm springtime slush. There had been a little bit of snow fall over night which made the top layer of the snow sticky for a bit.

Flex: It’s that well broken in and playful feel you get from a board that you’ve ridden all season. It’s not the softest jib board I’ve ever been on but it is by no means stiff. The tips have a lot of play as does the center of the board. The only place it feels remotely stiff is under foot and that is mainly due to the bindings adding more dampening and stiffness.

Stability: Well it is a jib stick so I wouldn’t count on it being overly stable. In the soft snow I could feel all the variations and bumps which wasn’t the best for pointing it down a steep run.

Ollies: If you ever wanted to skateboard on snow this is one of those decks that lets you do it. You don’t have to preload the tail to get the pop you want you can just go in and bam be done with it.

Pop On Jumps: The softer flex sucks up trannies but by no means is this a jib deck you can hit jumps of small to medium variety. Would I send a 45 footer on it? Probably not unless I was sure I was landing bolts.

Butterability: Oh yeah you can spread some love all over the snow with this board. It’s just designed to butter and jib.

2014 K2 World Wide Weapon Base

Jibbing: This is what this board was meant to do. It locks into presses, slides rails, and bonks the crap out of trees with ease. If you can’t jib this board you must suck.

Carving: I wouldn’t expect this board to be doing hard Euro style carves that leave a trench of destruction in its path, but it can hold an edge as long as you’re not in bumpy terrain. It will wash out if you center flex it too hard though.

Rider in Mind: Jib gypsy rail destroyer or someone just learning park.

Personal Thoughts: Hard to believe this board has been in the K2 lineup for 10 years. A lot has changed with this board and a lot has remained the same. It is designed to have the effective edge of a board a few centimeters longer so you do get that advantage for edge grip. Over all it’s always a pleasant reminder that a meat and potatoes board can live up to the hype.

How does this compare to the salomonder?

Little bit stiffer not by much. Pretty much equivalent boards for jibbing.

I’m 5’6″ and 135 lbs and ride park jibs and rails. Should i get the 147 or is it too long for me? I heard that you should ride the www a size smaller because of the long effective edge.

      You’re fine with that size.

Torn between this board or the Rome Shank. Which would you personally pick between the two?

Any reasons why you’d lean towards the shank more? Sorry for the shit ton of questions, but it’s definitely helpful getting answers from you.
