2012 Ride Kink Used and Reviewed

Once again we pushed lil Kevy out into the snow to ride a soft stunt stick for you. He went out and bonked really big tube rails, did some side hits, threw some flat land twirly birds and then I made him sit on the balcony in the cold and write this review with nothing but a t-shirt and fingerless gloves on. Here’s what he had to say.

Board: Ride Kink

Size: 147

Camber Option: Prorize. Minimal rocker in the tips. Nearly none.

Bindings: Flux DS30

Stance: 22.5in Goofy

Angles: 12/-12

Boots: Ride Phytop LE 9

My Weight: 145

Resort: Winter Park

Conditions: Colder than day 1. I’m wearing thermicare heat wraps as body warmers.

Preconceived Notions: Owned and love the cambered version. Hopefully this feels similar to my ’09 but all nice and broken in.

Flex: Jib board for sure, but not an unruly noodle. What a jib board should be.

Stability: Same as the cambered predecessor really. For how small and soft it was it did well and I was able to go fast with confidence. Not stupendous pop, but it got me up onto the janky jibs that Winterpark had. And them jibs needed some snap to get up to. Not enough for bigger jumps, but did its job on some mini 10fts that I messed around on.

Butterability: Its sub 150, flat, and soft…

Cruising: Well enough here. Got me around the mountain but if that’s all I wanted this wouldn’t cut it.

Jibbing: Really solid here. For strictly a jib board this is what they should be. Locked really well, and was as soft as a board can be but still giving you snap out of jibs and kept me from going over the handlebars.

Rider in Mind: Jib kid, or sized up a smaller park rider on a budget.

Personal Thoughts: Good jib board. I don’t ride urban all that much, but if I did this would be on my radar for sure. Since I know that a board can be built to lock like this and still give stability and pop for some jumping, this board stays in the streets for me.

What They Say: Featuring our ProRize shape designed for big-time landing stability and pop, this park destroying deck is known as a team favorite. Built to withstand numerous beatings, this rail ripping twin also features Rides durable Cleave Edge and impact absorbing 85A Slimewalls.
