2012 Nitro Swindle Used and Reviewed
Consume, worship, sell three things that can describe snowboarding. We consume on all levels, we worship the shred, and we sell whatever we can to ride. This is the motto for the Swindle as it’s a board that allows you to take part in the shred sledding. Here’s what our associate writer had to say about this stunt stick.
Board: Nitro Swindle
Size: 152
Camber Option: Flat
Bindings: Raiden Zeros
Stance: 22in Goofy
Angles: 12/-12
Boots: Ride Phytop LE 9
My Weight: 145
Resort: Winter Park
Conditions: Really cold, sunny skies, and really fucking cold.
Preconceived Notions: Probably my type of board. I rode one years ago and it was good. Should feel already
broken in but not loose.
Flex: Under mid park flex
Stability: More stable than I expected. Nitro’s tend to be more stable than their flex would initially suggest.
Good here. Jumped well enough, stable enough for the iffy 20fts Winter Park had with no problems or worries. Easily would have been fine on larger jumps.
Butterability: Great butter. Enough bend to lay into and twist every which way but enough substance to pop out of it and spin around.
Cruising: Comfy. Softer flex and zero makes it feel great. Never loose like a rocker can get, but you don’t have to fight camber to get it into a turn.
Jibbing: Strong suit. Really lets you lock a press nice but not too soft that you can’t pop out of jibs with some oomph.
Rider in Mind: All park rider that jibs more than jumps and finds rocker too loose but once something other than camber.
Personal Thoughts: I quite liked it. This is the type of board I would ride every day. Stable enough to bomb if I really wanted to, pressy enough to kill rails, and enough pop and stability to hit jumps when the mood strikes. Not the best, but solid for under $400.
What They Say: The Swindle gets the job done, plain and simple. It has a true twin shape, slightly wider waist and a nub nose and tail with a radial sidecut. This board is doing what was not possible in the past for construction and price. The Reflex Powercore II makes it ultra durable yet lightweight and soft. It has a long running length so you can size down and stay in control. It’s Zero camber and low swing weight makes it easy to control at all speeds for technical riding. The Swindle also features our exclusive Scratch & Rip base that wears through like a skate deck, showing all your scars from session to session.
