2012 Nitro Kooley Pro One Off Used and Reviewed
Rounding out the stunt sticks we subjected little Kevy to riding while braving the negative 40 degree temps at Winter Park is this one off board from Nitro. Kevin went out and played around on really wide tubes with shitty lips, hit some crappy side hits, and probably did a few other things while I remained toasty as fuck in the tent laughing at his poor expense. Oh wait who are we kidding I said fuck it and drove back to Summit County and left that shit hole resort behind while he suffered. Anyways here’s what he had to say about this deck.
Board: Nitro Kooley Pro One Off
Size: 151
Camber Option: Gullwing. Center reverse with minimal camber in the tips.
Bindings: Flow M9’s
Stance: 22.5in Goofy
Angles: 12/-12
Boots: Ride Phytop LE 9
My Weight: 145
Resort: Winter Park
Conditions: End of day 2, still frigid and slightly snowy.
Preconceived Notions: Was told it was basically a beefed up Sub-Zero.
Flex: Pretty even throughout and just below a mid flex.
Stability: Gullwing is one of the most enigmatic camber profiles. Every board with it I’ve ridden is like 2 steps more stable than the flex would suggest. It was just fast and held a stable edge. Super fun and snappy off jumps and super great on landings. I very much enjoyed jumping with it.
Butterability: Super fun to butter. Its stability on jumps was better cause of the Gullwing anamoly so the flex was still super good for butters. Press it, flex it, twist it however you want.
Cruising: Effortless and smooth. More damp that I would have expected. Not so much that chunkyness disappeared, but enough that I would never complain.
Jibbing: Not playful enough for me to make a good tech jib board, but I did have a lot of fun kinda hot lapping the rail section.
Rider in Mind: A lighter guys quiver killer. I would feel comfortable riding anything on this.
Personal Thoughts: Of all the “quiver killers” I’ve ridden, this was definitely one of the best. Great on jumps, fun on jibs, fun to butter. Definitely something I would like to own. It just did whatever I wanted it too with ease and it felt like I had been riding it for years. Overall it was just a blast to ride.
What They Say: For his fourth season working with us Dennis chose to brainstorm with each rider to create their dream graphic. Each one carved with blood, sweat, and passion.
